I Live in San Antonio and I Want Some Catfish!!

grady's isnt bad. clear springs closed on bandera, but they might still have their 1604 location. i would think acadiana has it. also, there's a baysea's on the eastside.

"Mr. & Mrs. G's" on W.W. White (might be only on Fridays @ lunch. One of Avery Johnson's favorite spots...)

New place on Austin Highway called "Podna's" is good. (Owner/Chef studied in New Orleans)
Podna's Website

"Sea Island" (locations all around town) is another favorite of mine.

Drive a little: "Whiffletree's" in Devine has great catfish, as does "Bill & Rosa's" in D"Hanis on Fridays. " Clear Springs" in New Braunfels is always consistently good.

Drive a lot: "Catfish Parlour" in Austin is excellent.

Now, I'm cravin' some Mr. Whiskers...

I surrender...I'm headed to Austin Highway...

I drive past Podna's all the time on my way to Lowe's. I think that may be an old KFC location.

Maybe I'll skip my homemade pastrami and get a po boy for lunch.

clearsprings on 1604/281 isn't that bad.

"that bad" being the key phrase.

I second Mr. & Mrs. G's. Everything is good there.

Other than that...really not sure. Sea Island and Clearsprings are the only other places I can think of right now that aren't too bad.

The obvious answer to this used to be Hoover's. Unfortunately, the San Antonio location didn't survive. I'll cast another vote for Podna's, though some of that vote is convenience.

I remember reading a Daily Texan article that was about Leonard Davis' diet during the football season. He was trying to eat right but said "that fried catfish keeps calling my name."

i am glad y'all turned me on to Podna's on Austin Hwy. been there several times now getting either the shrimp or oyster po boy. really good stuff. make sure you get their remoulade sauce. otherwise, the sandwich would be rather dry.

you do have to put up with a really strange woman that works there though.

haven't had the catfish. i keep forgetting to go by on monday for their red beans and rice special.

Texas Pride BBQ out on 1604 East, south of IH 10 has fried catfish on Friday nights along with live music.
