So I'm reading the news today, and see the WC sites are going to be picked.
I know absolutely nothing about who’s bidding, favorites, etc.
I scan over the countries in the running - for 2018, the most corrupt country is Russia. For 2022, it's Qatar.
Russia has an endless supply of vodka and Russian babes. Qatar has an endless supply of money, and a good supply of imported Lebanese hookers.
What do you know? Those countries "win" the bribe-fest, I mean bidding competition.
So the sites for soccer tournaments are fixed. The refs are fixed. The draws are fixed. Is there anything about this game that isn’t crooked?
I’m not a soccer hater either. When I lived in the UK I watched some EPL games, and found them much more enjoyable that say rugby, where every play looks like the last one from Stanford-Cal (with Benny Hill fast motion music in the background). But at what point does anybody say, “It’s just wrestling with a ball.”
If everything is decided beforehand, why in the world would people watch, or care?
