I just saw Gail Stanwyk at the Gym!

HEB on Burnet and Allandale. I kept making eye contact, thinking that I recognized her. Finally, so as not to seem to be a completely creepy stalker, I stopped and said "you know, you look just like . . . " At that moment, I realized that she WAS Mrs. Stanwyck. I finished with ". . . . and that's because you are her."

Stuck in a conversation that made me look like MORE of a stalker, not less, I had no exit strategy. I actually considered a water buffalo joke. I ended up with "so, been in Austin long?"

I then attempted to crawl into a box of Triscuits to hide.

Sadly, it was one of my smoothest encounters with a woman ever.
 
Dana Wheeler-Nicholson also has a hilarious supporting role in the underappreciated The Night We Never Met.

Matthew Broderick is reeling from a devastating breakup and commiserating with a friend on a street corner in NYC. He says something like "what I need right now is to meet some beautiful woman from Scandanavia, who speaks no English and who will only be in the country for a few weeks."

DW-N walks up and in a heavy Swedish accent, says, "Pardon me, can you tell me if I am Green Witch village?"

.... and I just realized she plays Tyra's mom on Friday Night Lights.

Which I guess would explain what she's doing in Austin.
 
Per IMDB, she was in the series "Friday Night Lights". My guess is that is why she is in Austin, sounds like she moved here.
 
you're not one of Alan's flyboy buddies are ya? if i had a nickel for every one of Alan's flyboy buddies who hit on Gail Stanwyk . . .

And she really does have strikingly pretty eyes (as the article notes).
