It's pretty disturbing that a bunch of bums would look at porn and have a not-so-private moment with themselves out in the open at these kiosks. However, it might be even more disturbing that supposedly reasonable and sensible policymakers thought that they could install these taxpayer-funded kiosks and actually prevent this sort of thing from happening. It was as predictable as the sunrise.

Statistics show a large portion of the homeless are mentally ill. Expecting them to act like normal people is irrational.

Husker
which article? I read the 2 links in the OP and must have missed the part about the homeless contributing to the lewd behavior at the kiosks.
I am having difficulty thinking many homeless people surf the web.

So we know it was a terrible idea to begin with, but wouldn't one think they'd at least put some serious content restricting filters on them?

What's to stop a 12 year old from walking up and looking at porn? Blocked at home by parents, no prob just head to a kiosk. :smile1:

Sounds as smart as bringing back cigarette vending machines and hoping no one uses them inappropriately.

As much as people hate DeBlasio (which is saying a lot considering how liberal NYC is), Emanuel in Chicago would probably trade places with him.

These are the two highest profile populist Obama/Clinton mayors out there...and their constituents now can't stand them.
