I Have Seen the Truth and its name is J. Gray

I used to think that David Overstreet was the most dominant high school RB that I have ever seen play but last night's performance by Johnathan Gray may have been the best performance I have ever seen by any running back in any game, ever.

Wowzers. He's a different kind of running back than Malcolm Brown but just as dominant.

Not sure he is Marcus Dupree dominant. I have only seen a few Dupree highlights from high school but would not say they are in the same class.

But Gray is a stud.....fast, strong, agile. Makes some subtle cuts to take advantage of holes then blasts by the defenders. He also looked pretty strong running straight ahead. Don't know if he is much of a receiver or not out of the backfield.

I sure hope he considers Texas. Brown and Gray would make a colorful backfield duo. If we could get Green to change his mind, we would be set for years.

He is not Marcus Dupree, Hershel Walker or Earl Campbell dominant. He's more Ced Benson type albeit with a little more speed but vs lesser competition overall...

I think Tim Wright has better change of direction.

Gray gets lots of stats, because, like last night, he is in at the end of the game when Aledo is ahead by 28 points.

I am not saying that Gray is not exceptional also.

I watched MB last night in person and I've seen Gray. J. Gray is by himself, he's a junior and he is still the best running back in Texas. When he sees a crease he leaves everyone behind.
I'm glad MB is coming to Texas but he is not going to save our running game, MB reminds me a lot of El Ced, bruising style but needs a line, so if we continue to struggle on the line our running back will struggle cause he doesn't have the speed to get to the corner.
The best comparisons would be J. Gray= Jamaal Charles and MB = Cedric Benson

Jonathan Gray

Does his line block for him? Geez, look at the highlights and you'll see that they do some blocking but he makes all the ones that aren't blocked miss because of his speed. and this is the same thing he did to LaMarque.

There are many examples in the highlight but the third one you see (team is in black) Gray runs right up the middle and three defenders are unblocked HAHA......TD.

I recorded the replay of Aledo's state championship game and watched it last night. The one thing that impresses me most is his vision. He knows when and where to go and when he decides, it is one cut and he's off, none of that dancing around ****.

The kid's acceleration and speed look off the charts. Very impressive. Seems like his style of running would fit in better with our offense than MB's. Of course, not knowing what our offensive scheme will be next year, I guess that's a slightly presumptuous statement to make right now.
