I hate our offense so much

The only people that even look to actively score are AJ and Gary. Dexter is reliant upon post feeds....Of which we are terrible at doing. James sits around the perimeter. Connor might as well be warming up the bus. Dogus doesnt know what the rim looks like. Mason has all the talent in the world but for some reason he either is not allowed to actually do anything or just doesnt want to.

This team seems to be getting worse at the moment...Not better.

Here, here.

I don't get to see as many games as I'd like, but every time I'm lucky enough to, I kinda dread it. Our defense is good, but not good enough to make up for such an impotent offense. GJ should take more shots. They should learn how to pass. They should make more free throws (today they did decent, but more often than not they are awful from the line). Atchley needs his touch back. James needs to get off the perimeter and take it to the hoop.
I don't usually complain this much, but I could hardly watch today's game.
But I still think we're the best in the big XII and better than OU. So there's that I guess.

Man... this is really frustrating to watch the offense. The concerning part is are we improving on offense at all? Mich St. is a great defensive team, but we were totally shut down on offense at the end of the 2nd half. In the last 7 minutes of the game, we had a total of 2 FGs made.

I don't get it. It almost like we're trying to do a three man weave drill around the 3-point line until the shot clock gets low. We'd be better off just not having an offense and playing streetball - which is pretty much we do aside from the on-ball screens, which are usually executed wrong by whoever is dribbling at the time.

I like Texas defense but they should not be ranked in the Top 5 IMO. Their offense is tough to watch, here is to improvement during the Big 12 season.

This thread comes along every year. Barnes does not beat people with his offense. Never will. Was interesting watching Michigan State run a real offense and getting all those shots in the paint.

Barnes' offense has in recent years been dependent on outstanding talent to function. This year, there's no outstanding individual offensive player, and to complicate matters, no real PG to create easy open looks for the other guys on the floor. Recent teams have been spoiled with those types of players (DJ, Kevin, Gibson, TJ, LaMarcus, PJ) and future teams will also be littered with those guys (Avery, Jordan, Daniel, and Tristan). This year's team will be ugly on offense. That's just the way it's going to be.

Every team needs great offensive talent to function. Find a top 10 team that has a good offense and I guarantee they have great offensive talent. We don't have a PG to get us easy shots and we don't have a true low post player. I know Dexter is a low post presence but his low post moves are not developed yet. What we have is a lot of pick and pop type guys and a bunch of wings/slashers.

When you only have 3/5 of the equation it's going to be ugly at times. But, I trust that Barnes will figure out how to get guys good shots. Give it time.

Damion James hits his 3 pointer (or Mich State misses there's), we're not even having this conversation. Sometimes that just how it goes when two well coached, athletic teams get together.
