'I felt like a Midget'

Anybody else catch that gem of a sequence during the game?

The announcer was comparing his hand to Beasely's and said "I felt like a Midget." Then a bit of an awkward silence before he clarified his point "Nothing against midgets of course."

WTF was that? It was funny. Right up there with "face rape."

I was horribly offended by that comment. I'm not a little person, but from what I understand, the "m word" is like the "n word" to them. Thus, the following statement statement - "No offense to midgets" - was self-contradictory.

We must stand up to this kind of bigotry, because the midget lobby clearly lacks the stature to do so. They are, at best, a few members short.

He should have said that he felt vertically challenged.

Hook'em!!!

Bob: Forgive me for prying. But did one of you, um... fornicate...

Willie: Fornicate?

Bob: Yes, with a heavyset woman in the Big & Tall dressing room.

Willie: Look, I've boned a lot of fat chicks in my time, sure. But as far as I can recall, I've never fornicated anybody.

Bob: Yes, well, even still, I think it's best for all parties considered if we --

Willie: If we what?

Bob: Well, I have someone else interested in the position.

Willie: Before you do something stupid, you may want to think about this ****.

Bob: What are you talking about?

Willie: I'm talking about firing a little black midget. A colored, African-American small person. That's what I'm talking about. I'm talking about your face all over ******* "USA Today." I'm talking about 10,000 of these little ************* all over the sidewalk out there. Little picket signs, chanting and raving. Using little bullhorns and **** like that. Screaming and hollering your name out. Unfair practices. Get me?

Bob: No. No, no. This is not a handicap thing. I have nothing against you people.

Willie: "You people"? Did you hear that, Marcus? He said, "You people."

Marcus: Who the hell is "us people"?

Bob: Wait. Wait. No, no. I -- You don't under-- What? He... No, no. Um, you know, I think it's best if we just forget we had this conversation.

Willie: Okay. Good thinking. And don't worry about us. We'll be fine. Let's get the hell out of here, Marcus. You're pathetic.

A midget is simply an unusually short person of reasonably "normal" proportions. A dward if an unusually short person of abnor... uh... "otherwise normal" proportion. This is really hard not to **** up.

I heard it, and also heard him clarify himself right afterwards. Didn't seem like a long pause of uncomfortable silence or anything. He just misspoke and then correct himself. I moved on.

It's not as bad as when they showed a photo of him standing next to Clint Chapman, and he said, "He's so white he made me feel like a negro."

I don't think saying the word midget is really all that bad, but the fact that this guy is on national TV is what makes it so strange.

There are a lot of words that we say everyday that, while possibly offensive to some, aren't REALLY all that bad. But you just don't hear them that much, so when someone dude says it on TV it's interesting.

It's like if he had said "made me feel like a 'tard." We all call things retarded, but you just don't say 'tard' on TV.

I wouldn't compare 'midget' to some of the more offensive terms, but it was funny to hear it.

I must have been in the kitchen or something because I was quite sure that I had heard it this way. "I felt like a midget. No offense to Tom Cruise....."
