I feel sorry for those who could not/did not attend Rice game

Talk about bringing back memories, but then it hit me that we have almost a generation that has no clue what I'm referring to.

Inside Reliant (NRG or whatever the name of the week is) there were several phenomenon that I had forgotten could exist:

1) The Longhorn band played numerous times and could be heard. "Numerous" does not mean "3-4", but sometimes after every play.

2) Perhaps the proximity of the stadium to The Texas Medical Center is cause for a noise ordinance, but there was NO ear splitting noise that could be heard in Beaumont and Huntsville. No blaring of a sorry excuse for music. No lousy *** commercials. You could actually hear cheerleaders, the band, ans cheering.

3) The PA announcer did not sound like he was on speed or auditioning to sell furniture for some discount dump off the Gulf Freeway. Neither was he auditioning to announce the Monster Truck Show.

It wasn't LSU or OU or even oSu, but it was a fun, festive atmosphere to enjoy a Longhorn victory and cheer for the team., sing with the Longhorn Band, and not schedule a Monday meeting with an audiologist because you left half deaf.

If you disagree, fine, but I go to support my football team, not a bunch of lousy *** commercials worse than late night TV.

Dummit, SH. Now I am mad for not attending the game. Thought there was no gain versus the tv broadcast.

Let me make you feel worse - front row of 500s on 50 yard line for $40.

For me to enjoy football, that's the best seat in Reliant.

Totally agree. I commented to my wife how great it was to hear the band for a change. We have great seats in Terrace section at DKR and can’t hear the band except when they’re marching on the field!

Although I wasn’t there, I like your observations...except for the band. They drive me crazy. The issue is that they never stop playing...

Playing “The Eyes of Texas Are Upon Yoooooouuuuuuuuuuu and holding that last note forever — after the opponent just made a good play? Is the director even watching the game?

Sorry. It’s a major pet peeve of mine.
