I defragmented my computer...

And now it takes like ten+ minutes to open new windows in internet explorer. I can navigate between pages in the same window as quickly as I used to, but if I click on a link that opens a new page, or try to open an email in its own window, it's slower than Christmas. Also when I initially open ie, it takes forever. What the hell happened and how do I fix it?

Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Disk Cleanup should do it, I believe. Check all the boxes of areas you want to clean up, and check multiple drives if you have them.

defragmenting your computer is a BAD idea, all the parts are SUPPOSED to be fragmented, if they wern't there would be massive heat buildup.

next time just defragment the HARD DRIVE(s).

my guess your problem is using internet explorer, try using firefox.

You have to close it every few hours. The program has a memory leak that causes it to use more memory over time because it doesn't release memory when it's done using it like it's supposed to. Closing it a few times a day solves the problem. The problem isn't as bad as it used to be and may be gone completely when version 3 comes out.

This might help, go find a freeware program called "EasyCleaner".

Install it, run updates, then push these buttons:

MRU, Clear Cookies, Clear History, Clear Files.

And maybe Registry. Just delete everything it finds, I've used it for three or four years and have yet to have it fdelete something it shouldn't from the registry.
