I can't access gmail

I am in Austin at the moment, away on vacation. The computer at my friends house will not, or can not, load gmail. I have run out of ideas and wonder if any of you can help me. Thanks in advance

P.S. I am drunk and Sixth St. kicks ***.
P.P.S. The computer uses IE and is a Win2000 I believe. Sorry

lots of firewalls will not let the applet (or whatever it is) load. Usually you can bypass by holding down CTL and then linking to the site or refresh.

Gmail relies heavily on javascript, it must be turned on for gmail to work. There is a button when you sign in for html or standard, choose standard and it won't use javascript.

To check if javascript is turned on:
firfox tools->options->web features
IE tools-internet options->security->custom level -> scripting/active scripting set to enable
