I know we are trying to raise these rates, but when seen along side of other universities, we need to be better.

Of course, considering where we stand, almost anything would be better.

There are a number of ways to calculate such things. Influences include transfers and early draftees. Our APR is right in the middle of the pack nationally. While we have nothing about which to boast in this department, neither do we have anything for which to apologize.

I like graduation rates as a measurement, except for the fact that they don't adjust for transfers and early exit to the NFL. A kid goes to school A for two years, transfers to school B and graduates. School B gets credit for the graduation, while school A gets dinged. That's just plain stupid.

Schools should be given 10-12 years to count early NFL kids as graduates. If a kid has 90 hours when he leaves, but needs 120 hours to graduate, it could easily take him 6-7 years to get those last 30 hours. Either that, or let the schools off the hook as long as that kid was on track to graduate in 5 years.
