I Am a (Computer) Moron- internet network help

I'm running Windows XP Pro from my home computer. It looks like I've set up a network, even though there's just one computer. Is this a bad thing?

Also I have too use too many commands to get on the internet. My ISP is sbcglobal.net. I use a Speedstream moden with a Belkin wireless router. My service is really slow, but I don't know if that's just the area I live in or what.

Anyway, when I reboot my computer, 2 messages show up for which I have to annoyingly click "OK".

One says "Configuration Utility- unable to connect to the network driver. Program will close." CLick OK and it goes away.

The other is a message called "Belkin WIreless LAN Utility" and the Configuration tab is selected. Again, I hit OK and it goes away.

Any way to get rid of that?

Also, before I last called SBC for technical help, I was automatically connected to the internet when I hit the Internet Explorer icon. Now I have to hit Programs, Connect to, SBC Yahoo DSL before I hit Explorer to get online.

Any help would be great. Thanks.

Sounds as though your dial up settings have been altered.
I'm running Windows 98 so my instructions may not be exact, but try this.

Go to Start on your menu bar, choose settings, control panel, Internet properties and then choose connections. You should see one or more dial up or connection options. Click on the SBC option. If the select default is accessible, then set default. Now you should see never dial, dial when no connection exists or always dial. I suspect that you will see never dial selected. If so, select always dial and click OK. Restart your computer and see if the two warning windows go away. Good luck

thanks for the response tru2.

Kind of strange what happened. I still get the 2 warning boxes, but after that a box pops us allowing me to connect to SBC dsl by hitting a button. So at least now I don't have to hit start, programs, connect to, to get to that menu.

Sorry that didn't solve the problem. I note that Belkin has email support for their products. I suspect you can get better support from them than from SBC. Reach Belkin at:
