Hyde Park Bar and Grill South

Been twice and it's pretty good. Basically the same menu. Had the chicken fried steak and the muffaletta and both were tasty with good helpings of sides. Seems they are having some service issues to iron out in these first few weeks. Brought out my cfs but the wife's muffaletta came a good five minutes later. On the second visit we had a young fellow waiter who seemed to wander around a bit with our drinks in hand before finding us.

Weekend brunch not currently available, but management said it will be online in a couple of weeks.
 
Put me down as one who does not see what all of the fuss is about. Went last night and wished I would have went to Madam Mam's across the street instead.

Not saying it is bad, but it is not much different than a chili's..
 
I went for lunch a couple of days ago. The fries were under-seasoned, but otherwise they were the same as at their Duval location. I had a burger, which I've never had there -- it was pretty good. (I got the Kobe burger.)
 
Finally had the chance to check on this myself, at first glance I noticed that you no longer have the option of soup or salad with your entree unless you pay extra. I very seldom look at the menu anymore when I eat at the original location, does anybody know if this is the case at the original as well?

Everything looked as if it was prepared just the same as the Duval location, my CFS had been left on the fryer a little longer than I was used to but it worked. The waitstaff seemed very eager to please and was very helpful but I think they were all new and seemed hesitant to comment on the menu unless asked a direct question.

Overall, it was a pleasant lunch and I will go there again.
 
Finally made it there, and the food was definitely up to the standards of the north location. Service was maybe one tick slow, but perfectly adequate. They did spend alot of ordering time trying to upsell (soups, salads, fries, etc), and bringing the wine-by-the-glass bottles to the table for tastes was inefficient, but that's nitpicking. With an empty restaurant, they tried to seat our party of six at a booth that held perhaps four-and-a-half, but every place does that. Of course you lose the "homey" atmosphere of the original, but the food will keep us coming back.
 
I went last weekend. Food was just as good as original and the prices are decent. With 1 beer, it came to $25 pre-tip for 2 people.

I have people in my family who always want me to go to Magnolia (which I don't like), I will start pushing them to go here instead as it is open pretty late (midnight I think).
 
the kids pizza is nothing more than DiGiorno. had the fried farm raised catfish and found it very hard to eat with a fork. the dumplings were pretty good though. i'll go back and try out more menu items soon.
 
I love this sandwich but only get it about once a year because each one probably takes a month off your life.

"HORSESHOE SANDWICH: Open faced sandwich with Texas Toast topped with 8 oz of ground sirloin, then smothered with cheddar cheese sauce, piled high with Hyde Park fries, more cheese sauce, diced tomatoes and fresh scallions."
