An electromagnetic field is produced by electricity. Any electric device produces an EMF. Can't have an electric car without it producing an electromagnetic field.

Worrying about this is about as pointless as when people were concerned when they heard that TVs and later, computer monitors, emit radiation. Of course they do! Visible light is radiation.

Guess what. There are electric currents on your gas car too! Unless you are willing to start your gas guzzler with a crank and do without headlights, stereo or the like, your sitting in an EMF field every day in your car.

God forbid you ever come near your cell phone.

What is really bad is it looks like most of the research was taken from post on random message boards found with google.

Note that the fields generated by the motor will be much larger than from the battery if not properly shielded. Still I think this is a non story.

I would guess this is 1/1000 as dangerous as breathing the exhaust fumes in the air on a typical roadway. Or 1/1,000,000 as dangerous as sitting in a car with a person smoking a cigarette. Or 1/10,000 as dangerous as breathing the air while pumping gas at a station.

We are all in a magnetic field ALL THE TIME. The Earth's magnetic field is about half a Gauss and every person has lived in it for their whole life (except maybe astronauts, I guess).

Light is just EM radiation. We are all bathed in that constantly, even when it's dark outside we still are exposed to light we can't see.

Ionizing radiation fucks you up because it damages your cells...I don't think hybrids make much ionizing radiation. This is nothing new and certainly nothing to get upset about.

Let's put it this way, the earth's magnetic field is so strong that compasses work. If your car's EMF field doesn't **** with a compass, it's not in the ballpark of the earth's magnetic field.
