Bush's fault? Or does O get credit for this?

How soon you conservatives forget that Reagan too ordered hurricanes off the Florida and Gulf coasts. He like Bush didn't like black people.

I live directly in the path of Irene- no kidding- I'll let you guys know Sunday whose fault I think it is- but I'll most likely assign blame to both parties for not being able to develop a hurricane preventer together.

It's ultimately the founding fathers' fault for failing to write into the constitution mechanisms for preventing hurricanes. I think a constitutional amendment banning hurricanes is in order. Actually, throw in droughts, severe thunderstorms, snowstorms, tornadoes and every other servere weather phenomena. We'll call it "The Balanced Weather Amendment."

I’ve been working quite a bit today on bringing down some servers and such in east coast offices, anticipating power outages. They’re gonna get pretty wet up there but I hope the wind won’t do much damage. I think they’re projecting a Cat 1 storm at this point.

Here's the biggest issue- as I see it. I live 10 feet above sea level in a town home/complex. This storm's winds shouldn't be a killer (50-80 mph) but this is going to make the water (oceans, Hudson River, East River) plumpen up like my high school prom date has according to her facebook photos. So- a lot of people I know in this densely populated area are figuring out how to get valuables higher. I'm expecting a surge that touches our garage floor- I hope I'm wrong for the better.

Don't forget to add 8-12" of rain on an area that is already soaked. I wish I could send it to my hometown of San Antonio big time.

Either way- this many people and this much water = $$$ in damage.

Not to minimize those adversely affected by this storm, but the networks dramatically reporting a couple of shingles off a roof, small branches in the yard and 30 mph winds is pretty funny.

nice photo op by obama at fema hq. it's pretty comical. news media is going to be upset when this thing hits tropical storm status as it moves up the east coast.

Just a bit ago on the ABC feed there was a reporter on top of a balcony above the ocean at Ocean City, MD. He was often grabbing the hand rail saying that one needed to from time to time. Below as he was clutching the rail two people walk by on the beach. They were not holding on to a hand rail at all. They were strolling. Probably should not have been doing that but still, they were not being knocked over. In a few hours, yes, they would die. But not now. Let go of the hand rail, *****.

best part was yesterday when all the anchors were talking about the huge impact that the winds would have on NYC buildings higher up. massive destruction and all, and they brought on a civil engineer who simply said 'nah, the buildings are designed for it, theyll be fine.' and the anchors went right back to saying how dangerous those buildings will be. this is by far the most overexaggereted category 1 hurricane ive ever seen.

More panic-mongering brought to us by many of the same people who peddle the anthropogenic global warming alarmism agenda. If people who live in the Northeast are smart, they will learn a lesson from this.

Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear. Whoever has eyes to see, let them see.

My thoughts go to the little old lady in New York City that was struck by falling leaves from the 30 mph gusts.

On a related note, the TV talking heads say it will be "extremely safe" out tomorrow. Amazing, since it's never extremely safe in NYC. lol

Hurricane Irene hit rich people's summer homes in North Carolina, all the blowhards in DC, stupid Jersey shore and then alot of these libreal democrat states like New York and the libreal democrat Northeast. ha!

Hmm a few classless comments associating an entire region of the country with perceived political beliefs, and an acceptance of science??

Ok- was the reaction by Bloomberg and the press overblown? Very much so it was. The answer is- as opposed to hitting Corpus Christi- or South Florida, or just North Carolina- I think it was 60 million Americans were in some form affected by the storm- which was not a powerful hurricane. So- do the math.

And as most of us already know- quite often it's not the wind that gets you- it's the flooding. And the flooding was not over-hyped, in fact that part was under-hyped.

The Weather Channel coverage made us all wanna vomit. These idiots stood on the beach and then told everyone to stay away from the beach at the same time.

No one really slept Saturday night in our neighborhood- we had some minor scares but as I told friends here the worst part about the storm for us was the hysteria some of the people here were spreading. We were lucky and didn't get flooded but know plenty who did. And winds reached 60-70 in our area near NYC, not 30.

Total deaths are just under 40 last I heard. So, coming here and giggling about a Liberal bias or something like that says a bit more about the poster than it does the media's over-done reaction. Stay classy San Diego.
