Huggins' Take: Big 12 Arenas

I don't necessarily think it's the number of students. Hell, TCU might get like 500 kids total to basketball games. Our entire fanbase is just kind of ho-hum in general. Combine that with a cavernous arena, and you get what you get.

The FEC has been a goldmine for the University. But the way it's built doesn't encourage a home court advantage. Adding to it is old farts who tell you to sit down take the fun out of it.

What also doesn't help is the location. DKR-Memorial Stadium is right on campus. I lived in Moore-Hill in the hyphen and I could literally see the stadium out of my window. Erwin center is on the outer fringe of the campus and too far away from the dorms.

The other reason? We're a football school. I think I heard on 104.9 someone said, "Football is a year round committed relationship. Basketball is a booty call!"

So what? Until we have a coach/team/program that cares about winning championships, why should we worry about the atmosphere at games? I've had season tickets for all 29 seasons I've been on this earth and haven't missed many games in that time, but this program is about entertainment between football seasons.
