HUGE traffic jam around Anderson HS yesterday

Does anybody know why there was a massive amount of traffic near Steck & Mesa yesterday around lunchtime? I approached from the north, and managed to sneak by in the right hand lane. I looked east on Steck, and traffic was backed up towards MoPac as far as the eye could see. The same was true for Mesa northbound south of Steck, and even on Spicewood Springs westbound from Mopac. Anderson HS parking lot was full, too. I bet there were at least 200 cars stopped cold in traffic, if not more.

texas relays? wouldnt be surprised if it was some kind of block party....in the middle of the highway.

Trust me when I tell you that Steck & Mesa are culturally about as far removed from the Relays as you could probably get.

It was a hazardous chemical drop off. People could bring things from their garages that are not supposed to go into the landfills. They actually had to turn people away.
