HRC's popularity sinking

I've been saying this for a long time. Hillary is not a strong candidate. She's uninspiring, bitchy, smug, a mediocre communicator, and doesn't have a particularly good story/narrative. She has had high poll numbers, but her appeal was shallow. Now that she's running as the inevitable candidate who's supposed to storm through the primary and general election, her negative personality is starting to show. The Dems should dump her. If the GOP puts up even a mediocre candidate (like Romney) she will lose.

HTC? I was all ready to talk about the Taiwanese mobile handset maker.

I've never considered HRC to be a strong challenger. She's simply the default Democrat in a race with the left will have no interest in voting in. No other Democrats want to waste political capital in running a hopeless race in with any
Republican challenger will have a tailwind at their back.

HRC is all-in. She has all the signs...leaves public office early to fundraise, writes an autobiography to build the narrative, and hits the speaking tour relentlessly.

She's in but will wait for the last possible moment to commit to narrow the window for the Right to tear her down.

I think Hillary will be the next president no matter who the GOP nominates. Most minorities will vote democratic as well as more women than voted for Obama. That is my opinion

I have long thought she was a weak candidate. She just comes across as very unlikeable. I think she will remind most men of their buddy's opinionated, overbearing wife that no one can stand. Plus, I think a lot of woman do not relate to her given her arrogant "stay at home and bake cookies" comment. In politics, being unlikeable is a hard mountain to climb and HRC is about as unlikeable as they get.

Lot of empty seats last night when she spoke at Georgetown U.

Let's not forget that she has Bill. When he gets on the campaign trail he will make up for a lot of her campaign shortcomings

I dont think HRC is going to win the nomination. The old line about primaries is that republicans fall in line, democrats fall in love. Hillary isnt that lovable right now and half of the party doesnt like her because she drug the 08 primary on much longer than needed. She is also up there in years and there is some bias present about older women and not wanting to watch them age. Its silly to me but thats the reality.

I think that a lot of dems are supporting Obama the way that pubs supported bush in his second term. They doing it out of team politics and hatred of the other side more than any real conviction. This usually signals that its time for an outsider to make a run.

Right not my top pick for that outsider is Martin O'Malley, the governor of Maryland. He has terrible name recognition at this point but he will be in the field from the beginning and I dont expect it to be a large field. If he can position himself as the default choice to HRC, then he has a good chance of pulling it off. My main concern is that he probably has no network set up in each state because he has been so focused on Maryland politics. Hillary probably already has lists of volunteers and potential donors already set up and ready to go. I personally think that its one reason that she let it drag on so long last time. She knew that she could be in the same position again and wanted to build a base in each state.

Here is a little about him:

Larry,

I think O'Malley would make a much better candidate than HRC. To be frank, I like Jim Webb a lot. He's far too deadpan to be a presidential nominee, but I think he's a great guy and a practical nuts and bolts kind of political leader. He doesn't get too caught up in ideological BS. If somehow he stumbled into the Democratic nomination, he might lose 40 states, but I might consider voting for him.

Well, I think her ties to universal health care and weak leadership on Benghazi will turn people off before they realize how unlikeable she can be.

I agree with almost everything in your orginal post. Additionally, not on;ly will HRC not be able to stimulate her base, she will absolutely give viagra to the right. I would expect near record turnout in defiance of HRC.

She is so over the top polarizing.

You guys do realize that you each get one vote right? You don't get extra points for hating her guts, which is your right. The people who will vote against her will already do so, she doesn't need to galvanize the opposition. The election will not be decided by staunch GOP support. You guys will turn out and vote as usual, but there are only so many of you, and if your nominee is a clown, you will not win. Rick Perry one of your top candidates, really?

MB,

You've been here long enough to know that I'm not a hater or even a partisan. For ****'s sakes, my signature photo is of Rick Fairy with a big, wild sausage in his mouth. However, you can't ignore the fact that HRC is aa smug *****, and nobody likes that. She's not going to get broad appeal being like that. Furthermore, she stood out the hardcore liberals long ago. She will demotivate the Democratic base, but old white dudes who have hated her guts since 1993 will be highly motivated to vote against her.

Hilary is now saying the U.S. should have empathy for its enemies. What a crock.

The question for 2016 will be what to do about ISIS and she will have to be a Hawk to have a chance.......this will piss off her liberal pansy base and she will not get the Democratic Nomination!!!

Thanks Oliver North and Dillohorn for completely discrediting Sun Tzu. The Link

What ancient strategist should I now look to for wisdom dillo? Or Maybe I should I just watch Sean Hannity?

Ex -- sounds like you and I agree on strategic usefulness of empathy. I appreciate your points, though I'd certainly doubt that Clinton would be friendly to ISIS or similar organizations.

Thank God you aren't in charge. It's one thing to attempt to understand why the enemy operates as it does, but empathy just shows an unwillingless to deal with the problem. Might as well wave the white flag. Thanks for associating me with North. He and I were both in 3rd Battalion 3rd Marines in Vietnam.

Dillo, do you think empathy means the same as sympathy? I'm not advocating sympathy. Understanding without empathy ... give me a primer on how that can be done as part of international conflict?

People incapable of empathy are called sociopaths. As a rule, that sort of international policy is fraught with danger.

I own a dictionary and I passed all of my English classes.

I think we all understand the difference between empathy and sympathy.

I don't feel any empathy for people who chop off heads, blow up bombs in crowed markets, and fly planes into buildings in cold blood and then have the arrogance to think their God will prepare a place in heaven for them with 70 virgins.

I hope all 70 virgins look just like Hillary.
