I've been going back and forth on this for a while. On the surface, it seems like it would scare all undergrads away from leaving early. They don't want to sit around for a year.....particularly without a paycheck.
On the flip side, there would still be a draft. If several of the top 15 undergrads stay in school because of lockout fears, it provides an opportunity for an otherwise fringe first rounder to really move up in the draft. It would be the best opportunity for the fringe guys to lock in their guaranteed money.
I don't consider Texas' two NBA prospects (Hamilton and Thompson) to be fringe first rounders. Hamilton is probably not a lottery pick in a good draft, so he might see some opportunity in coming out in a weak draft. In a bad draft he could be a top 10 pick.
Should Texas fans be rooting for a lockout???
