How to transfer emails?

I just got a new computer and I need to transfer my old emails to my new computer. Any suggestions on the best method to accomplish this?

Get a yahoo or gmail account. Forward them all to that account. Then get on your new computer and there you have it.

What kind of email? What program are you using for email?

Old computer has Outlook Express and windows xp. New computer has MS Mail 7 and Vista.
