Whether the notes are from Coach Applewhite, coach Applewhite or 'C.A.', one thing is for sure, Texas, Mack, Major, Chambers & Searels sure know how to freaking recruit!!

Yea, I guess that's why we lost the recruit.

Actually, I wonder if he uses a Sharpie to more easily fill the card while using fewer words. I think it adds to the effect that you didn't just dash off sentence but actually ran out of room to say more. I'm not joking.

can 17 year old kids even read cursive writing anymore?

Awesome article. Exhibit A as to why Mack and his staff are some of the best recruiters in the business. Now, let's see what happens on the field...

Texas has a history of putting backs in the NFL as well. Ricky, Cedric, Charles are all still in the NFL and representing. Holmes had a long career that ended in recent years as well. I think if I were a young top ranked RB (Brown and Gray) I would want to come to Texas as well to continue on the tradition, especially considering the talent we are assembling at OL and with the new balanced offense coming.

yes, ou was in the running for a while.  not sure why they were dropped, but they got a very good back in brandon williams last year, and they have a number of other real possibilities, so they aren't hurting.

of course, i don't care who you have if johnathan is available.  i think they really, really wanted him (along with most of the known universe).  i thought it was very interesting that johnathan and trey williams both made the shindig up in oregon last weekend but only one came back with headlines, and it wasn't the one that 7-on-7 would be expected to favor.  johnathan is an amazing talent, and it is going to be a lot of fun watching him.  especially in a harsin/applewhite offense with a known sledgehammer with speed and moves already here.  whether we pair the two simultaneously most of the time or swap them out for freshness/wear-and-tear/change-of-pace reasons, they promise to produce some fireworks at running back that we've not had lately, though it won't hit critical mass until the offensive line is hitting stride.  the offensive line is the bedrock of any good team, in my opinion, and help is on the way.

it is going to be very interesting to watch how we use johnathan and malcolm.  i see them as variations on a common theme.  they are both big enough and strong enough to be considered power backs with speed and moves and the ability to hurt a defense catching the ball, but they have slightly varying degrees of size/power, speed, elusiveness, and receiving/route-running ability, i believe, that will give us the opportunity to worry teams like terriers on a rag.
