How to get the labels off wine bottles...

I would like to start a wine journal, to keep track of wines I like. Problem is, I'm a visual person.I'd like to figure out how to get the labels off wine bottles so I can put them in a book.

Then. when I want to buy wine, I can look for the picture in a book instead of remembering a name, which I can't do to save my life. Any ideas?

Unfortunately, the method that works for some labels, doesn't work as well for others. It all depends on the adhesive that is used to put the label on the bottle. One of the best methods that I've found is to steam it off.

I wonder if the label would come off easily if you put the (empty) bottle in the freezer? I've heard you can open envelopes that way (if you have a need to be stealth), but never tried it myself.

It would be kind of tough to get the label off of a bottle of Perrier-jouet Fleur de Champagne

Soak them in hot water. Fill your sink or a pan or something full enough to cover the label and let it sit for a while.

Any label with a paste-type glue will come right off.

For homebrewing, I get the labels off beer bottles by soaking them in OxiClean and warm water. The labels slide right off.
