How to get a stain out of hardwood floor

While Mrs. Reboot and I were packing, I moved a black speaker stand and noticed a black stain on the hardwood floor. Apparently, the speaker stand bled. I don't really know how it happened. Anyway, the stain is about 8" x 8" and I need to remove it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

That is a tough deal. If the stain got into the wood, you are up a creek. If it is just in the finish, you might be able to buff it out. What I would try is some OO steel wool. When it is moisture in the finish like a milky looking ring from a plant you can use your iron to demoisturize the stain. If it has gone through the finish, polyurethane, varnish, etc, you are looking at sanding and refinishing and that will leave a noticeably refinished area unless you are a true artisan. Even if you are, you could probably tell.
