last time we came down in june, we hiked about a half a mile or so from barton springs to the spot i like to swim (only spot i've ever really been to actually) and the creek was more or less dry. talked to a biker that said he came all the way from twin falls and it was dry the whole way. from what i understand this is fairly normal.

is there a number or website that indicates the conditions on the creek? i have number for when the trails are open, but does anyone know of any way to verify water levels?

i am trying to plan another trip before football season and that is one of the things i very much like to do.

Here is the site I used last summer to determine the toobing conditions. USGS site It is dry. Although there might be small pools along the trail. BTW, 95 -200 cfs is optimal toobing conditions.

Just make the assumption that unless it rains for a week straight, it will be dry. We had a day of rain a few weeks ago, I thought is would at least leave some water in the holes. Nope.

last year was really nice. it rained from dec 06-june 07. i tubed and swam in barton creek until july. this year, not so much.

The most thrilling and most fun tube ride I've ever had was from about mopac to the pool during a wet june in the 1990s. It beat every river I have ever floated and I will never forget it.

that would be great. i have never seen it like that. but i've only been a few times over the last few years. i didn't even know it ever dried up. what a disappointment that was last time.

My first response to the thread title was to look at your calendar. If it is later than May or earlier than November, the creek is dry.

O&Q, hahah... my thoughts exactly... then my next thought was... "ummm... it's dry. i promise" followed by "wow, it's friggin hot outside."
