How the offense fell apart due to injuries

There’s not a QB on campus that is championship level, which means we wait for one of the commits to be a savior.

Well, they're underclassmen but more importantly...they're having to run for their lives on just about every passing play. Kinda hard to fully evaluate these guys until they have some time to throw imho

So we've had injuries - excuses, Excuses & more damn EXCUSES! If you are a skill player and get injured, unless it blinds you, it does NOT keep you from watching film, and learning to READ THE DAMN DEFENSE! Neither Shane nor Sam can read the defense; neither can our WRs or RBs.

How many injuries are related to conditioning?

Youth is no excuse. This is The University of Texas, and if you're good enough to get a scholarship, and good enough to suit up, you should be prepared to step up and deliver.

Or maybe there’s a little bit of truth to both sides. Mack was GD’s biggest supporter and defender, and held on to GD through thick and thin establishing continuity. But I’ve seen it argued on here that Texas with GD as OC wasn’t going to get us over the top unless a savior like VY came along. Mack and GD turned the keys over to VY about halfway through 2004 and it was off to the races. So there was continuity for a real long time and the success was massive, but it went to higher levels when a once in a generation player came along.
And yet it took that transformational player 3 years in the system to become transformational, and 4 years in the system to deliver a NC.

with all due respect to all on this thread, "coach 'em up" is valid just so far....give Tim Beck some time. They're coaching what they have as best they can. We're not full of 5-stars/Connor Williams here.....they're going to get outplayed frequently......I'll bet the returning linemen look much better next year. Young qbs will have learned by fire as well. Maybe Saban could come in and get 8-9 with this team, but I'm a doubter.....Hook 'Em!

No, it took his coaches 3 years to figure it out. The system that ended up working was basically put in place between the Missouri and Texas Tech games in 2004 and it was fish to water for VY. In the meantime the coaches had to do the Chance Mock experiment, then try and plug a square peg (VY) into a round hole (GD’s offense). Once the coaches figured their best bet was to get out of VY’s way, that’s when the ball started rolling downhill. VY played in the proper system for him from mid 04-‘05.
