How skinny does a ballerina have to be? There's a nasty rowe starting after a New York Times critic savaged a woman who to me appears a beautiful and talented ballerina as a Sugarplum Fairy who "looks as if she's eaten one too many sugarplums."
The Link
The woman is not overweight. She's womanly and eats enough to be strong enough to do her job. Of course I think rail-thin beauties used to model clothing are not nearly so pretty as as a volleyball players of the same height who probably outweigh them by30 pounds.
The critic feels he's gotten unduly harsh criticims for merely doing his job. I read about girls fighting a lifetime of eating disorders and becoming so thin they cease to ovulate. I know it's not fair, but if I had to describe the critic in a word it would contain seven letters the last four of which are "hole"
