how much should I tip movers?

Depending on the time spent and difficulty, I would tip 20-30/man, but I have no idea if that's normal.

Ditto on the $20 per man. Although last time we moved we gave each of them $20 and when we laid down in bed that night our matresses fell through the bed frame to the floor because the movers did not assemble the bed and just set the matresses on the frame without screwing in the cross slats.

Needless to say, we called the moving company and asked that they reimburse us for the tips as we believed the movers did not earn any extra compensation for their lack of effort. The moving company obliged.

1. take the weight of what each mover moved, divided it by 200.

2. Then take that number and add $1 to every degree that the temperature is over 90.

So, if each mover moved 2,000 lbs and it was 100 degrees outside, you owe each mover $20.

easy peasy.

Damn YoLaDu, I should have used your formula as it would have saved me some cash. When two guys delivered a new bedroom set to my house and set it all up, I tipped them each $50. Looks like I overspent

The only time I remember tipping is when i was moving out of my apartment into my new home and this big Michael Clark Duncan fella just single handedly picked up my 32" Sony XBR (Xtra Bricks and Rocks), walked down three flights of stairs with it, loaded it on to the truck, and walked it into the house by himself again and set it up. In a way, it was like I was watching an MCD movie, so I was more than happy to tip him an extra $50. The other guy that was with him was like Uncle Rico, "handling" the light stuff like mirrors and lamps. But I had to tip him too so I wasn't accused of reverse racism. But really, it was the big black dude who won my heart.
