How much is enough

How much tax is enough for a family to pay. I have two children, both in college. My yearly income before taxes is around 130,000. Will I fall into the rich category if Obama is elected? I don't know the exact amount of taxes I paid other than federal, social, security and medicare. I would guess when you add in local, sales, gas, fees, and other hidden taxes, it has got to be close to 50%. If Obama gets elected he wants more, I work extra to provide for my family, and frankly I don't want him or anyone else telling me I need to pay more. Enough is enough.

It's very, very unlikely that you would see a difference in taxation between either McCain or Obama.

When it comes to the middle class, there is no meaning difference between Republicans and Democrats on taxes. One party wants to shift taxes this way and that way, the other wants to shift that way and this way. In the end, the true tax burden for most people won't change at all.

When it comes to the 15% bracket and 35% bracket, there is a meaningful difference between the two parties. You are about a quarter million a year shy of it mattering to you whether or not a Republican or Democrat wins.

If they let the Bush tax cuts expire, am I not going to take a hit? Is the cost associated with universal healthcare going to be absorbed soley by the rich? By the way I am a registered nurse, will the new healthcare plan mean a bigger patient load and less pay? RNs are making as much as $55 an hour here contract and it is common to make $45 to $50 in the flex pool. You also get shift differential and weekend pay. If the government is in control do you think they will look at our pay and say it is too high?

Well I can live with the status quo. I certainly hope you are right. I know we are not living the life of luxury.

Actually, you should be worried most about the AMT. McCain has at least said (not sure if he'll follow through) he wants to eliminate or index the AMT for inflation. Also, with Obama's health care plan, your taxes will go up.

It is clear to me that instead of listening to a bunch of know nothing "conservatives", and writing loaded questions on a message board, you need to your own research.

Under Obama's health plan, his main feature is cutting costs to make insurance more affordable, and government subsidies. The only mandate he has in his plan is mandatory coverage for children. Adults will be free to choose to get health insurance or not.

Obama has also proposed a middle class tax cut, so in fact, there is a chance our taxes will go down.

And third, he intends to reign in spending by, among other things, no longer paying for the Iraq war.

Loaded question? sigh. Asking for specifics from leftists has become a "loaded question"?

The left is very talented at crafting fuzzy platitudes such as "pay their fair share". But always refuse to define what "fair share" means. Loaded question, lol.
