On the way to Dallas this weekend?

My stop will include 2 Hot Chubbies with Cheese, 2 Mixed Berry Cream Cheese.

and 2 mixed dozen boxes on the way back.

If you are from Houston, or otherwise I-45er, the stop is Woody's Smokehouse, the Jerky Capitol of the World. I dropped $60 just on jerky. It's very, very good and keeps forever in the freezer.

Had some at the Czech Stop this morning on the way home from Austin. Makes me want to make the trip again just for the food.

Just posted this over on Rusty's too. I also moved away from Texas and couldn't find anyone that even knew what a kolache was, let alone a decent location to buy one...unless you count the abomination that is the Kolache Factory...for some reason we have one of those in Denver.

Anyway, I found the following recipe and it's been a lifesaver...well worth the time. If you're going for savory not sweet...as I prefer, then I suggest adding a little more sugar than the recipe calls for. Also, put your sausage, cheese, japs, etc. in after the second rising, when the author does her sweet fililng

The Lifesaver

Enjoy.
