How is Cancun in October?

We might be doing a bachelor party in October (not during Texas/OU more like when at Baylor). Likely going to be Cancun. How is the weather then?

Playa last October (On OU weekend) for a 40th BDay party. Yeah, I was a dumbass in committing to it way in advance without looking at the date. Anyway, weather was awesome, and there was almost nobody there! Awesome! Of course, you won't have that problem in Cancun.

I was there in mid-late November of 2004. Nice weather. Of course a trip down to Playa del Carmen for a day of checking out European boobs on the top-tional beaches make for an enjoyable day during a bachelor party.

PS- If you go to Paradox in Cancun (if it still exists), say Hola to "Alexis" from Concepcion, Chile.

When is the hurricane season in Cancun? And will it be packed in November? As it is a bachelor party, we want a crowd but not spring break.

The bachelor party is set and it is the ISU weekend (10/13 weekend - 4 nights there). I don't mind missing that game. I went to ISU 4 years ago for our game there. It will be the 1st time I'll miss watching a UT game in years but at least it is ISU. I wonder if I can watch it there, I doubt it....

Anyway, 2 questions.

1) I think that one of the guys going can get a great deal from his work to stay at the Omni. Anyone stay there?

Omni

2) What are some good sites to get flights? I tried expedia.com and from Austin to Cancun leaving Thursday morning, coming back Monday afternoon and the cheapest I can find is ~$470 on Continental.

Omni is a very nice place. I would recommend it, especially if you can get a good deal. I stayed there during Spring Break my sophomore year in school and had a blast. It's not quite a five star, Ritz-quality, super-resort but it's at least an 8.5 out of 10 if not better.

Its got a really nice pool area and as you can see, very close proximity to the beach. Drinks are very easy to get all over the pool area and they are reasonable priced. The staff isn't particularly outstanding but they were probably less than enthused about catering to us drunken fratters all week. Plus, since you're going there for a bachelor party yall can pretty much take care of yourselves anyway.

It is probably more of a family/little kids environment than you might be looking for, but none of the hotels are going to be crawling with hot college-aged tail during November anyway.

The only downside is you're gonna be looking at a 20-25 minute trip to the clubs every night, but you'll be faced with this at almost every hotel decent hotel near the beach. The best thing about Cancun is the very cheap/highly efficient buses that run all night from the hotels to the clubs. Yall definitely won't have any problems getting where you want to go.

Another negative might be that there's not very many real nice restaurants/shopping area in the Omni's immediate vicinity, but they aren't too terribly far away either.

This is the place where we stayed for my brother's bachelor party. Great location, huge place, big pools, some coupons that are best used for the all-you-can eat breakfast buffet. (All other uses of the coupons at the hotel are NOT a good deal.)

This place is across the street from the convention center. And if you want to rent a car for a day, there is a car rental place right next door to the hotel.

I'm pretty sure that it is called "FIESTA AMERICANA GRAND CORAL BEACH". If so, here is the link to the pictures.

I think we might be staying at Riu Caribe. We stayed there 4 years ago but it was called something else. We wanted to stay at the Omni but we need to find out what type of discount our friend can get us.

I booked a trip on expedia for 2 for both and for 4 nights and all-inclusive ocean view rooms for both, it was $1050 per person for Omni and $750 per person for Riu Caribe (for reasonable flight times). My guess is $1050 is too much and we are going to do Riu Caribe. At least we have been to Riu before and the rooms are really nice, the pools are great, beach access was great and the drinks and food were good.

We'll see. either Omni or Riu at this point.
