How does one invest in gold?

Assuming one's tin foil hat is getting pretty tight, thinks the dollar is going to collapse and wants to invest in gold/silver/precious metals, how do you do it? I have about $50K in a 401k that is parked in a target date fund. My advisor didn't have much info for me, told me the target fund was a good place to be. Below are the options I have in my 401k. Any insight? I'm confused and my advisor wasn't much help, so please spare me the "You shouldn't be getting financial advice off Hornfans" comments.

I agree we need either a concluding post for that thread or a weekly update that won't draw attention. If I'm missing something like that, please PM me.
