I assure you that firefox is not the issue. Right click on a blank area of the grey bar at the bottom of your screen and select task manager. Click on the second tab "Processes" and click on the cpu column header. This will show what's using your cpu. You may have some spyware or crap ware slowing you down. You can goto download.com and get spybot or adaware to clean up your system.
If you really want to remove firefox, goto my computer on your desktop, then c drive then progam files then mozilla firefox then uninstall folder and run the uninstall program there.
i tried to uninstall the program & i had a few problems:
1) there is a "Mozilla Firefox" & "Mozilla Firefox (2)"
2) "Mozilla Firefox" had an uninstall program. I double clicked on the "UninstallFirefox" icon & got this
sounds like you installed it twice.
you can try copying the uninstall from mf/uninstall to mf (2)/uninstall and run it from there. The program looks like it uses the text file to tell it what to uninstall.
Wow - that processes thing is cool. I have suspected I have spyware weighing me down too. It says I have AcroRd32.exe and SVCHOST.EXE using about 14,000 K apiece. Ive also got 3 or 4 others I do not recognize hanging down around 4,000 K. Are either of those above spywear, does anyone know?
Also, is Spywear Stormer, Noadware, or Spybot any good to wipe them out?
AcroRd32.exe is adobe acrobat reader
SVCHOST.EXE is a generic host process name for services that are run from dynamic-link libraries (DLLs)
niether are spyware. spybot and adaware are my 2 favorite spyware removers. I also recommend installing zone alarm on your computer. It asks you if it's ok for a program to access the internet. If you don't have any idea what it is it may be spy/ad ware. All of these programs are available at download.com
my favorite extensions are
All-in-One Gestures - use your mouse and right button to go back, reload, go fwd, etc. Once you start using it you'll wonder how you got along with out it.
Tabbrowser Extensions - control the way the tabs work. reorder them, color them, set up bookmarks that open a bunch of tabs all at once.
blacklab - Thanks for the link, but when I download the Google from that link, it reinstalls on my IE. I don't see an option to direct it to Firefox. I also want to install my SBC Yahoo toolbar on Firefox, if you have any thoughts. Thanks.
Definitely end task on that Acrobat Reader. It eats up memory. That thing kills my computer. When I'm done reading a .pdf, I make sure to close that out.
At times, Firefox will start eating up my memory. But I've got an old computer, so I'm sure it's not bad on one with more RAM and a faster cpu. It's the best browser out there. I hate going back to the lab at school and trying to surf without tabs.
