Was watching the game with a dude wearing a KU shirt and after congratulating him on the win he admitted he thinks Calipari is dirty... what is the full story?
He has two final fours, except officially he doesnt. He left both Umass and Memphis under clouds and there was a heck of a lot of smoke at both schools but no one has ever found a fire that directly connects to him. There are some pretty good investigative articles on yahoo about him if you just search his name. He certainly has a habit of walking right up to the edge. Dont be shocked if he gets UK a national title but five years later he has moved on and it gets voided. That is his modus operendi
I don't think it's so much the money as it is allowing lots of rules violations with no qualms. Just turning a blind eye to anything his assistants or players do, and then abandoning them when the chips are down and penalties look imminent.
What FWHorn said. Don't think he's Ron Meyer/Dave Bliss dirty, but he definitely knows and works the grey areas of the rule book and he has loyal henchmen who seem to always be willing to do the dirty work without directly linking him to any impropriety.
It's pretty obvious that he hasn't just "gotten away with some questionable stuff", but that he intentionally and purposefully schemes to get away with the maximum amount of undetected illegal crap that he believes he can possibly get away with.
