Rangers are doing what they need to do - clean up when playing the tailenders. The schedule will get tougher after the All-star Break, so it would be very nice to have a healthy lead over the Angels.

They've got to ride the hot streak for what it's worth. Josh won't hit .500 forever.

Actually, the other day in the paper it showed the top 5 or 6 teams in the AL and the Rangers have the easiest schedule from here on out. Most of it is because of the division they play in.

White Sox have won 11 or 12 in a row now, best since 61'.

Remember when the Astros were better than the Rangers? Seems like so long ago.

2nd best team in baseball - hope they keep it up and keep all of those California pretty boys out of the postseason..

Tough loss last night.

We had chances, but just couldn't get enough timely hits w/men on base.

It's kind of frustrating that Oliver chooses this game to show poor control. That 3-run double was the ballgame. Feldman just doesn't have it this year. I'm holding out hope he can make a push after the AS break.

It's amazing we're in the position we're in, when you think about it. Our top 2 starters have been borderline awful all year and our 5th starter has been in constant flux ( ... and still is).

Back away from the ledge and drop the sharp objects, folks. This was one game - the Rangers will play several more against the Angels. It's early in the season - we're not even to the All-Star break yet - so panic is not appropriate. This is still a superb team - even with the flux in the rotation, they have done what they need to do to win. Keep the faith.

Bases loaded in the 5th (?) and the heavy hitter scoming up, and only one run. THAT'S where we lost the game.

But the beauty of baseball is that we get another chance today. Now let's make the most of it -- hit the damn ball!

this one loss doesn't give me much of a problem as much as it is how they lose games to contending teams. I'd feel a lot better if the execution was there in crunch time vs winning teams.....but as HHD stated there's no need to get on the ledge....about 85 gms or so to go.

Last year, that 3 run double would've broken this team. I thought they did well to get 2 back in the 7th and put a lot of pressure on the angels in the 8th. Thought the angels were lucky to not piss that game away. I'm so glad Vlad is sitting in our dugout this season.

I don't hold out much hope for tonight as Beltre has never pitched in the bigs and he's asked to come in and shut down the angels line up- he's got a good era but I don't think he has a win in AAA. I just hope that with Lewis and Wilson coming up, we can at least get 2 of the games in this series.

yeah, the Rangers need to give up on copying Tex Schramm. For those that don't remember, it was Tex's idea for the Cowboys to be a part of the NFC East, because of national exposure, via TV.

I'm guessing the Rangers saw that and figured the West Coast had almost as many people as the East Coast, and tried to copy Tex.

Rangers should obviously be in the AL Central. Maybe the new owner can push for that the next time they realign.

I "took one for the team" tonight, boys. I got home from
school just after the Angels went up, 1-0, then watched powerlesslu as they built their lead to 3-0.

Frustrated, I went to the DVR and watched a sitcom I had recorded when it was over, I checked the score and the Rangers had taken the lead! I watched another sitcom, and the Rangers scored another run.

When I started watching the game again, the Angels
scored to close it to a 1-run game, so I watches another sitcom. And Vlad goes yard again!

So, while this was a game I desperately wanted to watch, I did much more for the team by NOT watching.

You're welcome!

BTW, the Rangers have the best record in baseball! I love it!!

missed most of the game last night, but saw the highlights - wow this team continues to impress and Josh Hamilton - I am so pleased this kid's power hitting has come roaring back.

Let get the series win tonight!!!

HHD, i've been a Rangers fan since Day 1. I remember all
those years of being the worst team in baseball. I remember Billy Martin's "Turnaround Gang of 1974" that finished over .500 and only five games out in the West, only to go back into the shitter the next season I'm familiar with the usual "June Swoon", the post-All Star break collapse, and the fade down the stretch. I know we're riding a wave that might come to an end.

But it might not, too.

This team is not playing over it's head. It's a seriously good team. So let me have this right now, OK? I am probably the only zealot on this board who has watched the Rangers SERIOUSLY since Day 1 -- I was at their first game in Arlington.

Let me have this.

And yes, we have our tickets for Sunday. Shadowdancer sprung for Club level -- which means I will have access to GOOD beer!

orangecat,
The Rangers have wanted out of the AL west for a long time...they tried to get selig to somehow get em in the central division, didn't work out. If selig had offered Texas to join the NL in the mid 90s for the 1998 realignment, as he did KC, they'd have done it in a heartbeat.

There were rumors Texas was offered the NL switch, but it never happened per Selig.

Vlad the Impaler, holy crap! He's been a one-man wrecking crew so far this week. Let's get'em tonight for the series win!

Texanne - you probably were closer than me from the early days on but I watched the David Clyde phenom the summer of '73 and I was absolutely glued to the '74 Rangers season - went to a bunch of games and sat in the outfield cheap seats or closely listened to games on the radio almost every night. What Billy Martin with that team was amazing.

This is who comes to mind from that team....

Tom Grieve - current Ranger Radio Broadcaster
Jim Sundberg
Toby Harrah
Fergie Jenkins
Jeff Burroughs (my favorite)
Jim Fergosi

That was one of my favorite seasons

THE THINGS I REMEMBER MOST ABOUT THE EARLY DAYS....

Frank Howard homering in his first AB.

Whitey Herzog fired, for billy Martin

1974....burroughs...sundberg....hargrove....fergie....phone call foucalt.

and the biggest was, watching Willie Davis sit down in CF when the game was being played. ..1975...he was knocked down the previous inning, asked his pitcher to retaliate, was told "that ain't happenin".....so he sat down right there in CF in front of us....we didn't know the details till the next day as to why at the time

also....1976, watching Hank Aaron stink it up in those silly HR contests they used to have prior to games (pub stunts). Grieve and Burroughs, vs Bobby Darwin and Hank....Hank was over the hill and showed no interest in those things. Was very akward applauding him. A great ballplayer in his prime, reduced to a pregame sideshow.

oh, and all the david clyde circus acts of 1973/ 1974....anyone remember the doubleheader when it was Clyde and (Merritt? Broberg?) vs Nolan Ryan and Dobson....that DH was hyped here like no other

Good Guys wearing patriotic unis tonight up 2-1 on the lowly CWS in the 4th. Lewis is pitching... Go Rangers!!
