How big is this game for KU?

Just a little bit of speculative talk, but KU has a very important three game stretch coming: home to Tennessee tomorrow, home to Siena Tuesday, and at Michigan State Saturday. Reason being is that they have absolutely no good win so far this year. Their best is a 19-point win in KC against a very mediocre Washington team with their losses to Syracuse, a blowout at Arizona, and an awful loss to a UMass team that just got shallacked at Houston and already lost to powerhouses Jacksonville State and Wisconsin-Green Bay.

We all know how weak the Big XII North is this year, so any loss, with a possible exception at Missouri, is a bad one. They play at Baylor and Oklahoma and get A&M and UT at home.

All told, this will probably be a very interesting two months ahead for the defending champs. Could Texas put a big nail in their NCAA hopes in Lawrence in early March? Would that not be sweet?! KU's current RPI is in the 90s. It may just be early January, but if I'm a KU fan I wouldn't see a tourney bid as a given, even with last year's title. They could really use a nice win tomorrow over the Vols.

It's quite nice that UT hasn't had to worry about this too much for a long time, with the only exception being '04-'05 until Buckman beat up OSU in Stillwater in the last regular season game.

unfortunately horns will lose at the phog---even with an average jayhawk team. you just can't beat them in lawrence.

that may be true but if tj and durant can't leave lawrence with a w i don't see this horns bunch doing it, sadly. allen fieldhouse is THE mst difficult place to play

Allen is difficult to play b/c KU is so good. Texas goes in there and punks them this year. Those were 1 and 2 seeds that Durant and TJ's teams lost to.

I have seen a game there and some at Cameron for a Duke game. I would give the nod to Cam v. Phogg, sorry.

Your optimism is awesome.

Must be a KU homer with Horn nickname.

We take KU this year in their house and then again in two years with the recruiting class we've got coming in.

KU is a great team. They are tough at home (so is everyone else in conference play....especially teams in the South).

I'm sure the team isn't scared & Barnes certainly isn't.

no, ut grad who lived in lawrence for over a decade and saw many strong teams (including ours with LaMarcus, TJ and Kevin) go into allen fieldhouse and lose. it is just a difficult place to win as the opponent...hope we find a way this year but it will be hard.
