How bad is the Big XII??

Arkansas is 2-0 vs the Big XII.

And they are 0-4 against the SEC.

And the SEC has zero teams in the AP top 25.

DOES NOT COMPUTE.

Texas and OU are the only teams that are worthy of a ranking. Baylor, A&M, Mizzou, OSU suck. Kansas is average.

The Big XII is bad.

Maybe "sucks" is extreme. They don't raise the perception of the Big XII though.

They are not worthy of a Top 25 ranking either.

I thought Arkansas's season was officially successful after beating Texas. Guess that's the case - they've thrown in the towel.

The Aggies have their shot at a successful season in a few weeks...

I don't think the Big 12 is putrid by any stretch. I think there will be four or five legitimate bids to the NCAA tournament. The conference is down a little with Kansas and Texas a shade rebuilding, and Okie State starting over. But OU is ascendant, I do think the Big 12 will go without a Final Four and maybe even elite Eight qualifier. But I think the Big 12 ranks somewhere with Big 10, SEC, and Pac 10 in a lump behind the ACC and Big East. Realistically, it's like that most years. We just don't have a potential champion in KU like in years past.

I guess the suggestion is that the SEC is better than the Big 12. The Big 12 did finish with a 5-4 record against the SEC this year.

IndyHorns is right. It is the Big East and ACC first and second. The other big conferences are clustered together behind them. I'd put the Big 12 slightly ahead of the SEC and the Pac-10. The Big 12 is 10-7 against the Pac-10 this year.

Disagree with the conference rankings.

I think the big 12 is down this year but definately ahead of the pac 10 and SEC (both those arky losses were in fayetnam- we beat UCLA, A&M beat Az etc and so forth). We tied the Pac 10 in the challenge but beat them a few times that were not a part of that (like last year- same thing happened then).

We are, however, a clear step below the big 10 imo.

Every team in college basketball is capable of playing at a different level on different nights.

Witness KSU needing overtime to beat Colorado, then crushing Missouri.

Witness Boston College beating UNC, then losing to Harvard.

I don't think you can draw any huge conclusion about the quality of Big 12 basketball from the two games Arkansas hosted.

"Kansas and OU are pretty good in Big 12. "

No reason to believe KU is anything more than average yet. They have beaten, CU twice, ISU, KSU, Texas A&M and Nebraska thus far. Those six teams are all in the bottom half of the league or close to it so far. KU may develop into a solid team, but I will withhold judgment until I see how they do against the upper division teams.

Unfortunately, they only have like 6 games against upper echelon teams in the big 12 while we have 10. This schedule is not fair most years, this year more so then any other I can remember.

OU, maybe KU, and the 10 dwarfs.

I do think the Big 12 will go without a Final Four and maybe even elite Eight qualifier. _______________________________________________________________ I can see 7 of the elite 8 from ACC and Big East. Only ou from B12 has chance to make elite 8. To get there they'd probably have to beat a MichSt, Xavier, Clemson, Purdue or Syracuse type. Maybe 2 of them. No matter who they play they'll have the best player on the court. Gives them a chance though it didn't help us with Durant on our side.....

And exactly in how many of the last ten years have 7 of the elite 8 been 1 or 2 seeds? 2007 is the only year I can think in which something like that happened.
