How About Keeping Your Doctor?

The dominoes will continue to fall. I keep hearing libs complain that Repubs just want it to fail, but please let me know which prediction by critics has not come true?

(Reuters) - UnitedHealth Group (UNH) dropped thousands of doctors from its networks in recent weeks, leaving many elderly patients unsure whether they need to switch plans to continue seeing their doctors, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.

Many doctors do not even know which networks they will be in. This has been the case for awhile and is not new info. This has also been happening for years with PPOs.

This is a PPO problem? The fact is that ACA has many cascading effects throughout the healthcare world. Many plans will not include current doctors.

This will be the next big Obama lie exposed. His propaganda for the law included keeping your own doctor. Are you saying that everyone will be able to keep their doctor?

yes and the facts are that physicians are not currently in all networks. same goes for clinics, hospitals, pharmacies, etc. This is nothing new.

I love ACA? Why because I list the facts of it and think it needs to be given a chance since it is law and because the voters reelected President Obama when the other candidate said his first task once elected was to repeal ACA? I think you simplify things too much in your head and paint broad labels on others.

I did not paint a broad label on anyone. As 96 states, Obama's re-election was largely based upon deception and also the fact that Romney was a weak candidate. Same was true for McCain.

ACA as a law has not even been followed by its primary sponsor, Obama. he has made unconstitutional changes to the law in order to gain political favor.

PPOs, HMOs etc never promised you could keep your doctor. The defenders of ACA seem to throw diversions like your PPO analysis to mislead the public.

It is possible the poster didn't know or ever hear, read the 30 times BO said if you like your doctor you could keep your doctor
after all the poster didn't know that in the obamacare rules there is a nasty little nugget that docs and hospitals can be left eating fees if a obamacare insured stops paying premiums.

We are not smart enough to pick our own doctor. Let Obama take care of us.

This thread is about the President lying to the American public. Are you admitting he lied or is he just stupid?

It is NOT erroneous that a 'patient" can stop paying premiums and under obamacare has a 3 month " grace period' during which treatment must be given. The inrurance company will have to return the second and third month it collected from the gov't TO the gov't which means the hospital or doc office can be on the hook for payments the 'patient ' and insurer did not make.

You ran away from another thread in which I posted the relevant obamacare section on a grace period

This issue is closely related to BO s lying and saying overr and over if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor period.

BO and now some posters are trying to blame the mean old insurance companies. Luckily most of America isn't buying that lame deflection.

I had to kiss my awesome doctor goodbye a few years ago when my company switched to ****** Aetna instead of Blue Shield. His office does not take Aetna because they such so much and are so hard to deal with. So I've known the rejection feeling of insurance awhile.

I would pay a little bit of money to be able to switch insurance and go back to him. The one I have now is okay and all but held to the standard he set...pshaw. Been to a couple in search of not a good doctor but an awesome one.

I am thinking of just going out of pocket since insurance would cover prescriptions and hospital stay/surgery if need be.

Don't be obtuse. The ACA has/will greatly change physician networks and the creation of ACOs will eliminate many doctors from many plans. Consumers will have to choose health systems, not doctors which will include only certain pcps and specialists. So your primary doc and your cardiologist for the last 3 years will not be on the same plan and you will have to choose one to keep.

So "If you like your doctors you can keep them. Period." was a lie?? Who would have thought??

That was his point, pharm. I think you missed it. Although, it was unrelated to the OP which was that Obama did not tell the truth when he stated that you could keep your doctor.

Personally, I have never lost my doc. So, if I lost him now it would be unique.

The point is that it is the scale of changes. Many people will be losing their doctor and their hospitals. Some supporters will state that people lose their doctor all the time. Some other knowledgeable people will note that the scale is unprecedented and is a result of changes to laws governing healthcare.

Personally, because I am in good health, I don't have a concern about losing my doctor. My personal concern is a huge increase in premiums for myself and my employees. Different people will have different reasons for being upset about this law, though. Increased federal control of our lives, loss of self determination, loss of doctors, increased federal debt, poor management, questionable manner of passage of the bill, increased federal debt, presidential and congressional lies during and after its passage, media downplaying of events, increased personal costs, loss of insurance policies, loss of hospitals, expansion of government, granting of waivers based on politics and affiliations are just some of a whole host of other reasons that upset the people about this law.

My original post was highlighting yet another lie Obama used to get his way. Pharm wants to distract away from the truth about ACA, both it's effects and how it was sold to the public.

Arguments for ACA are often diversions from the truth. I understand the pro ACA people wanting everyone to have health insurance. However, they simply do not understand that someone has to pay for it and it will result in lower quality of care for everyone. It is not healthcare for everyone, it is health insurance for everyone. This health insurance does not pay for all of the costs. Someone must pony up for premiums, deductibles and the remaining costs. That someone is the US taxpayer in the form of redistribution of wealth.

The biggest outrage is yet to come. As businesses start to drop health insurance, more and more will be forced into the exchanges. This is Obama's ultimate goal - single payer - the ultimate redistribution of wealth. Socialism at its best.

You need to read up on the law. Expensive teaching hospitals are being left out of the exchange because of prices. This is in direct opposition to the President's claim. You could argue that it is a good thing that higher priced teaching hospitals won't be on the exchange, but you can't argue that it isn't happening. Further, you can't argue that it isn't happening to a much larger extent than the occasional doctor being dropped from a plan.
