Houston Trash Pickup

I live in a gated community with 12 residences - 6 homes on each side.

We need someone to pick up our trash 1 to 2 times per week. We are paying $180/month, but they are unreliable and we would like to switch. If anyone knows a company who does this in the 77055 area, please let me know. The HOA is willing to pay more for a more reliable company.

I don't understand why the City isn't picking up your garbage. Did you not call 311 to get a garbage can?

Gated communities are private thus the city usually doesnt pick up the trash. I have used Republic Waste and havent had any problems.

I live in a gated community and we get our trash picked up. I guess there are different levels of "gated communities". Sorry, it's just a foreign concept to me, i.e. having to pay someone to pick up your garbage and not have the City do it.

Does the city come inside the gate to pick up the trash?

If so, maybe we need to call the city and have them pick it up. I'm not really in charge of it, I just got pissed off the company that was supposed to do it wasn't doing it.

With an 8 month old daughter, it's critical to have the garbage taken out on a regular basis.

We leave our cans on the outside. I have a feeling your gated community is a lot more upscale than mine.

Bernard - I am not saying that the pickup should be free. I know I "pay" for the service from the City. I was more intrigued by the fact that HH had to go out and hire someone on his own behalf and not take advantage of the public service.
