I don't mind telling you this is my favorite day of the year. I know it's a day you've been anxiously awaiting, and that makes it even more special. I can't get two steps inside my favorite Whataburger without someone saying: ''Richard, when is your Big 12 South preview coming out?'' I don't know about you, but I love making people smile. It's really my life's work.

People love my Big 12 South preview. They know I'll give it to 'em straight, honestly and with a touch of humor. That's just the way I am. I get these traits from Mama. She's been this way for just about all of her 89 years. I have no idea why she always liked Sister better than me, but that's another story.

I also know more about this stuff than almost anyone. I hate to brag, but another thing Mama tells me is that it ain't bragging if you can do it. She's referring to Sister when she says this, but still.

I'm releasing my preview a few weeks early this year in the hope that people will stop asking when it's coming out and if I'm going to say anything nice about their teams. Anyway, when we talk about predicting the Big 12 South, we're really talking about second place. First place again appears decided before the first kickoff.

This is definitely not Justice 4 all. I think he enjoys riling up the Longhorn Nation. This is part of his job to get everyone fired up. At the end of the day he is still pulling for the Horns no matter how much he rips them.

The order is probably reasonably accurate. That being said, it's a typical sportswriter fluff piece complete with self-aggrandizement, fan baiting and general stupidity.
 
I really don't have a problem w/ it. We have questions on offense (Deep threat, RB) that need to be addressed. We have an injured superstar on defense in Kindle that has yet to practice full speed. We have question @ safety as well. He's just going by what the situation is now and not what it will become.

My personal opinions;

A&M may be too high.

Okie lite has out recruited A&M for four and five star players for four years running now.

A&M has the only the 8th ranked coach in the Big 12 and only the 46th ranked coach out of 66 in the BCS?

Maybe the Houston Communist is catering to local subscribers?

I have about had it with Since 73's constant posting of things like this, gloating about preseason things for the burglars of dirt. I hereby challenge you, 73, to a heads up game of Monopoly. And I will be writing down what properties I own in case you try to steal them when I am not looking, you scoundrel. I hope you wake up with indigestion.

It looks about right.
I could see us actually beating OU in a tough game and STILL not winning the Big 12 South because of our schedule.
OU is the smart money pick.
Tech is a paper pick. Who knows what they'll actually do?
 
Let me get this straight.

Tech is picked to finish second in most publications released so far. This is a Tech team returning 8 or 9 starters from a defense that Texas scord 59 points on and gained 551 yards against. Did all of these returning starters get real good during the off season or am I missing something ?
 
wow, if anything i think that's a pretty optimstic look at the team. potential bcs?
i've been pretty down on the team this year, thinkking it's our weakest in recent memory, so to me this is encouraging.
the crazy thing about ou is how quickly they turned that o-line around. a few years ago guys were quitting left and right and now they have one of the best units in the country? i mean, i know they pay their players, but still.
 
I know you guys shredded their defense last year... and won the game... but didn't they drop like 45 points on you as well? And the year before you guys narrowly escaped. The past 2 years haven't necessarily been blowout wins.
Do you guys think Muschamp can slow down the Raiders offense this year?
If all the talk out of Lubbock about their defense is true, they could be unstoppable this season. I'm just glad we're not in Lubbock this season.
 
Tech's offense ususally gets in the way of their defense being dominant. I'm sure there are those here who disagree but Tech still isn't going to have a run-the-clock offense and this WILL put their defense in some precarious situations...always does.

We shall see how it plays out.
 
I disagree with his take about missing Jamaal. I think we miss Jamaal alot this season, IMO.
I also enjoy how Justice takes last season and last offseason and makes it seem like Texas has been playing like this for a decade. He truly tries to razzle his readers.. Touche'.
 
i would clearly pick OU as the winner in the south this year, but the gap is never was wide as any writer would have you believe. we'll be good, maybe great, but definitely beatable. this seems like a really solid team, but i'm not so sure it is a special team yet.

and besides is a team really special until the end of the season. we'll see, but i'll have to wait and see how tech's defense perfoms in the first few games.
 
Since73, I can tell you were 'educated' (if you can call it that) by the University of Oklahoma since the newspaper is the Houston Chronicle not the Houston Chronical.
 
Agreed regarding Tech.

Remember the last time Tech was Top 10? That was a fine ***-pounding. In fact, for all of the improvement that Leach has done with that program, we pretty routinely provide them with an annual anal raping. Since 02 we are 5-0, winning by an average margin of 48-30. This includes a 51-21 assrape of a ranked Tech team in Lubbock and a 52-17 skullfuck of Tech's lone Top 10 team that we played.

But yeah, I am incredibly worried about the Tech defense.
