...and I'm a little sad. What's next, astroturf at Wrigley Field?
One of the greatest games I've ever seen at any level was an absolute mud bowl at House Park a few years ago. It had rained hard all week and rained lightly throughout the whole game. Austin High was mainly a passing team, but they found it easier to run. San Marcos almost never passed out of their Wing-T, but they busted a couple of long TD passes. Everyone was so muddy it was sometimes hard to who was on what team. Tied at 21, San Marcos got the ball back with about 6:00 left in the game, drove down to about the Austin 20, converting a couple of 4th downs on the way, and called time with less than a minute left. Their kicker calmly walked out on the field in a clean uniform and drilled a FG to win it.
