Horns vs UNC in Arlington?

Oh, man, I forgot about that. A home and home.

If they are conscious, they will realize that it takes two to make a deal. If not, RB may need a bodyguard.

The tiff Barnes had with UNC and specifically Dean Smith was years ago. If UNC still holds a grudge, they are missing out on a big time match up early in the season. These games would be great for both schools, IMO.

hold a grudge? they hate us like ou and aggy hates us.

my fiance is a tar heel and so are her family. i get that crap from them all the time. mack brown left. barnes said that. waa waa. i just remind them what happened the last time we played...

Ugh. Do they really have to play in a football stadium in Dallas? Having them play in Austin would bring back memories of Lamont Hill and Brandy Perryman leading the Joggin' Horns to a upset win over Vince Carter and the Heels years back! I remember my friends and I that maybe UT had finally turned the corner. Uh... no.

The tiff between Rick Barnes and Dean Smith occurred in the mid-90s. I think '95, but I could be wrong on that.

Anyway, that's the primary source for the friction, and the fans who have been around that long have managed to pass the hate down to hard core members of the new generation.

Does the fact that Barnes has been out of the ACC for many years now not quell the hatred? I can't imagine RB is on the mind of Tar Heels fan on a regular basis these days.

You can check the UNC Rivals and Scout free boards. There are plenty of vituperative rants regarding Barnes on either one, especially as the DMN and AAS articles have been linked on there.

For many people, he's only slightly less hated than Krzyzewski.

And it doesn't matter to them that Barnes and Smith made peace years ago. Barnes doesn't talk much about this anymore, and when he does, he says he regrets what happened.

SL....There sure is a lot of ignorance and arrogance over at the UNC Scout board on that thread you started. It's absolutely idiotic on some of their parts to think Texas is not worth coming to from a recruiting standpoint. It's arrogant to think they would only help us by playing against us. UT plays great teams every year now and recruits (as we've seen the last couple weeks) across the country.

Frankly, Kansas fans have had a similar take when the idea of adding another game between the Jayhawks and Longhorns is brought up.

Texas is still seen as a johnny come lately by a lot of the bluer bloods, and it doesn't get any bluer than North Carolina and Kansas when it comes to college basketball.

Being arrogant is one thing...Being stupid arrogant is another.

Texas football fans want to play more high profile OOC games...in a sport where one loss really hurts you. UNC fans are saying they don't need to recruit in Texas and they are too good to play a fellow excellent basketball team. Texas football fans are arrogant...But you'll never see them turn down a good game.
