Horns vs. Tech

Observations: Tech is really bad. Horns beating them like
a rented mule. Knight won't be there next year, but he was
fighting an uphill battle --- famous dad, bad location, etc.
That was not exactly a job to inherit.

Yeah, I was about to post that it's only going to get much harder from here.

FT shooting wasn't great. We can't shoot around 60 percent for the conference slate. Three point shot selection was also a little off.

Thompson really can take over a game.

Tech is pathetic, not sure how they kept it close against Baylor. And they started 4 seniors. I think the main reason dad resigned in the middle of the season was to get Pat the head job.

Matt Hill has really stepped it up of late. He's making the most of his minutes, setting screens, crashing the glass, defending one-on-one, rotating, blocking shots ... he's even showing for the ball. If he keeps this up, we just might develop enough inside depth to hang with teams like Kansas.

Conversely, Wangmene is very frustrating to watch. He rebounds well, but every other aspect of his game is ... substandard (i.e., his passes are telegraphed and his shots are rushed).

Jordan and Jai need to take better care of the ball. Hamilton was especially careless tonight--all four of his turnovers were of the "stupid" variety.

Also, Tech is terrible. I agree with SectionThree in that Pat Knight probably won't be coaching the Red Raiders next year. And, as poor as they are playing, he probably doesn't deserve to be.

This was really a good game to work on going to the hole and running pick and rolls etc. Tristan Thompson was totally dominant underneath.

Hook'em!!!

Barnes has never had a big man as good and polished as Thompson. If he stays for one more year to play with Kabongo and Joseph, it could be a very special 2011-2012 season.

1. Thompson is a beast.
2. Worst announcers ever tonight. Maybe even worse than Musberger (the modern standard for bad sports announcing)...
3. I like this team: Fun to watch, good chemistry, decent D (although I haven't seen a frantic press yet), plays decent transition AND halfcourt O, etc, etc.
4. FTs will be our Achilles Heel.....again
5. WTF about Boards against UConn?? Hopefully an anomaly
6. Sweet Sixteen???

I know we are young...but I could see this team moving further than the Sweet 16. At this point, my prediction would be Elite 8.

Tristan is practically the second coming of LaMarcus Aldridge. They're about the same height and build, they look similar, play similarly ... they even run similarly.

Tristan probably has the better all-around skillset (except for free throws), but keep in mind that LA missed about half of his freshman campaign.

One can only hope (and hope and hope and hope!) that Tristan returns for his sophomore season.
