Horns vs Tceh Game

Everyone take a deep breath, we’re the better team and we’ll prevail at the end of 2nd. This double digit deficit will be wiped out with 6 mins to go in game.
 
We have started running an off ball defender to trap the ball on D. I like the change and Tech has struggled adjusting but we aren’t cashing in on offense. Down 62-55 with 8:42 to go.
 
Their big guys are just better tonight. If we face a team like this in the tourney they'll treat us the same way.
 
Horns hit the game winner with the buzzer beater to spoil tech rushing the court.
If not, I’m tuning out before they do.

This is a game we should have pulled out. D game through in 2nd half and we took care of the boards, we just didn’t convert on the offensive end. Bad loss in my opinion.

This 100%. We have 2 bigs that we count on- 6’9” Disu and 6’7” Bishop and that’s it. We really could use someone like a Jaxson Hayes, Kai Jones, Jericho Hayes on this team.
 
We only beat them by 2 in Austin on Jan 24th. Pop Issacs went off on us with 35 that day. After tonight I don't think we can claim we're any better than them. They're coming on at a good time. And we're proving to be inconsistent.
 
Yeah I was worried after I saw their KSU win on Saturday. Anyone in the XII can play. We can't go so cold for 4-minute stretches.

Timmy Allen might be our best player, but he is worth about as much as I am against that kind of lineup. They frustrated him all night around the paint, and he couldn't get near boards on either end. If we get even sub-par play from him, we win. But he was worse than sub-par.

Rice went cold trying to get us back in it.

Dillon Mitchell's disappearance this year is akin to the Myles Turner disappearance of 2014-15. Turner was getting roughed around during the conference slate, and Barnes told him he had to play tougher. His family (**cough** street agent) told him that if he played tougher, the NBA scouts would get too much film of him being a banger and backup PF instead of a midrange Garnett type. So he shut it down and Barnes obliged by cutting his minutes in half. Mitchell isn't even as good as Turner, but his minutes (and play) are following the same trajectory.
  • Hasn't attempted a FT in 3 games
  • Hasn't played more than half a game in 6 games
  • Hasn't scored double digits in 14 games
  • Zero boards tonight.
This was the loss we couldn't afford (outside of OU at home) if we want to keep pace with a potential conference championship. If we play like that in the tournament, it'll be round of 32 and out.

And tonight also shows why our temporary pay bump for Terry is just that: temporary. And that the search is ongoing.
 
You guys kill me! You’ve broken hearts all season with your ability to mount a late game comeback, and could’ve done it again tonight, but probably started the comeback too late.I wasn’t comfortable until we sang The Matador Song post-game. The Big12 is a buzzsaw from top to bottom, there are no gimmes on the conference schedule.
