Horns vs Bu

Big game. Horns need a win. I think Ibeh's got to play as well Saturday as he did in the first Baylor game. He was outstanding in that one. If he can stay out of foul trouble, play lots of minutes, then the horns should win. If he goofs up, gets in foul trouble early, like he has the last few games, then we are in trouble.

Stay focused Prince. We need you.

Sometimes you can count on Baylor to go into full streetball mode. They are long and athletic, but they can completely lose all discipline at times.

That was the recipe for losing by 18 at home to Tech. I have never thought Drew was that good of a coach, he just hopes to out talent people. His teams usually has a lot of physical talent, but sometimes plays really dumb basketball, for an extended period of time.

I agree that if Ibeh plays well we're in much better shape. But as we showed against WV we can overcome a poor offensive game from Ibeh and early fouls. I think the key to beating Baylor is consistent defensive effort and aggressive offense. Early fouls by Ibeh makes things harder but this team can overcome it at home. :bevo:

I heard the Rico is questionable with the flu. That would be a big loss for them.

In Shaka we trust, UT is playing consistently well. Home game with a lot a stake. I'm looking forward to it. Just wish more people would join in the action at the Drum.

Couldn't have asked for a worse start. Players don't look as ready as this Baylor team, which apparently has been playing better without Gathers playing

Horns are stagnant on offense, just standing around and the refs aren't even allowing to play defense. Not looking good. We are simply getting our *** kicked.

The refs look like they are calling this game in Waco. Horns need to finish the first half strong and get it to single digits or the hole they have dug themselves may be too deep.

I know I'm biased, but I don't recall a home team ever getting hosed like the horns did in that half. Baylor slime doesn't need any help, the Horns have not come to compete today.

No wonder we haven't had many sellouts this season... Thought this team cared more than this to get totally punked at home.

Are you serious? This team has done more than enough to make people show up. One game doesn't change that...don't be fickle. I'm sure the players think that the fans don't care, as they don't have many sellouts.

Watched some of this cluster earlier.... was not sure this was a UT team - sloppy, weak & timid.

Meanwhile the baseball team is up on UNLV early on....

Clearly not the Horns' day, and Baylor took advantage. If Texas can bounce back on Monday, then this season can get back on track. However, Texas is now completely out of the running for the Big 12, and that's a shame.

Unfortunate losing 3 of the last 4. I thought Texas left the late-season meltdowns behind when Rick Barnes left after last season... :whiteflag:

They better start playing with a little urgency, or they could quickly slide out of the NCAA picture as quickly as they entered it a few games ago.

My thoughts exactly. Four tough games left. I would think they need to win at least two of the last four. The two road games will not be easy.

From what I got to see, before going to baseball, the Horns got off to another rocky start. Turning the ball over and Ibeh with two quick fouls.

Baylor just took off and never looked back

You can't beat Baylor with no inside presence, unless you shoot lights out. They have a lot of long talented players and guards that can drive, with no shot blocker inside.

They took advantage of mismatches on switches all game. It's a just a bad match up without Ridley or Ibeh, where Texas matches up well with a team like WVU.

Expecting this team to win the Big 12 was kind of a stretch, Ibeh is much improved, but still fouls too much and Cleare isn't a big time defensive enforcer inside.

This team has done well under the circumstanes, they really need Ridley back. They can still play and win against top teams, but they can't have the lapses they had today. They have to take care of the ball and keep Ibeh on the floor.

World beaters to rec leaguers; opposite ends of the spectrum one game to the next. It's kind of what I expected from this group since Cam went out. It's almost March, which means the season starts over. These guys will seed strong and play with a different mindset and game plan come tourney time.

Before the game, I posted on this thread ... in Shaka we trust. Then, for the first time all year that I thought we got outcoached.

No adjustments, other than a concerted effort to get the ball to the post in the second half. How about put some shooters in the corner? too much time wasted just passing the ball back and forth up top without any effort to get into there zone. I was literally yelling 'attack' from my seat.

But, no changes on defense. As bad as we were on offense, we were worse on defense. They drove right by us all day for easy lay ups and dunks. At some point when they are shooting 70% from the paint, you would think it would be better to drop back into a zone and force them to shoot over us. Hard to imagine it could have been any worse.

And, when we let Baylor make such a high percentage of shots, they can easily get back and set up in their zone. We played right into their hands.

That was embarrassing on our home court.

Is the Big 12 rigging games ???
Texas beats Baylor on the road then gets practically embarrassed on their own floor.
KSU beat Kansas in the Fog now getting it handed to them at their house....
Does the NCAA look at road wins more favorably than losses at home for teams near the bubble ????
It makes no sense to go into another team's place and beat them, then get "spanked" by that same team at your own house..Not just lose, but get spanked......SMH
The refs sure seemed to favor Baylor the way they called the game today, and I thought they favored us at Baylor when we played there....

It looks like the $EC rigs games to get more teams into the NCAAs.....
