The aggies were sounding off prior to the Olympics and couldn't shut their pie holes over the fact that they were sending more athletes than us and went so far as creating an aggie vs Longhorn point system in order to represent their "superiority". Well the more things change as they say, the more they stay the same!!!!!!!

Aggie: 23 athletes (4 medals) - 0 individual

Longhorns: 21 athletes (13 medals) - 4 individual

After further research I stand corrected with aggie attaining 7 medals (1 individual)!

But yet again another blowout.

Of the 23 ATM Olympians, only 5 competed for the U.S. ATM's most successful recruiting is outside the country where few know how the extent of aggie weirdness.

I'm not sure where the 7 medals for the Aggies came from. Guess I missed a few; as far as I can tell they received a total of 4, and all on relays so no individual medals at all. And the four medals I know of came in just two sports...3 in T&F, and 1 in swimming. I guess someone can list any others I may not be aware of.

23 athletes and 4 medals, all relays, vs. 20 athletes and 13 medals (inc 6 in individual/team sports and 6 gold) for the Horns. Huge difference but no surprise there. And I love that ex-Horn Knight was selected to run in the WR setting 4x100 final, as opposed to ex-ag Tarmoh who had actually tied for 3rd with Felix in the 100 at the Olympic trials. Apparently there was some drama with how all of that went down.

I think you are correct. My original finding was the 4 medals but of course some aggie website had listed (7). I guess should have considered the source. I do think that (1) of their guys won the 110 hurdles. All that said, it's just great to see the Horns stepping up on the biggest stage. Props to all our Horns! Very proud! And Sonya and Leo, just WOW! Those were extremely compelling.

The 100m hurdles champion, Aries Merritt, attended the University of Tennessee. I think he may train in College Station now, just as quite a few who didn't attend Texas train in Austin, but he was never an aggie.

The discrepency in medals is explained by the aggy claiming gold, silver and bronze in the squeezathalon, bringing the total to seven.
