Actually we beat Rice 2 out of 3.
Won 3-2 in the Houston Classic at Minute Maid Park.
Won 5-2 at Rice.
Lost 7-2 in Austin.
If we had won either of the two games we blew late leads to OSU in the Tournament, we would have hosted. Both of these games OSU didn't have the Big 12 Player of the Year, Zach Fish due to the ankle injury against OU in the prior game. We couldn't beat the top teams in the Conference all year although we
had nine home games against them and three neutral field games and it cost us.
This went just as expected to me. I can't think of any other Regional Texas would rather be sent to.
Rice is beatable, but remember they have two really good pitchers we haven't faced. They are Matt Ditman at 5-5 and 1.72, also Blake Fox at 12-0 with an era of 1.38.
They can pitch Ditman against George Mason and save Fox for the next game.
Aggy was one of the last teams to make the field. Sam Houston as a #3 here instead of Fort Worth could have been a harder draw.
Remember the struggle we had with them in the Houston College Classic finally squeaking by 3-2. If we don't let the Aggy thing get in our head, we should win if we show up ready to play. Peters or French, if pitching up their capability should handle them.

Thoughts on the Rice Regional by Augie and Texas players.
The Rice athletic department is happy because now all the
games should have good crowds with the three Texas team fan bases involved. I hear it is close to selling out already for the reserved seats.
TCU may have a favorable Regional, but I think Sam Houston State is pretty good. You only have to go back to 2011 to remember DBU going to Fort Worth and winning that Regional.
TCU earned what they got by finishing second in the conference and then winning straight through in the Conference Tournament.
Also in their last 30 games their record was 27-3 and that
kind of finish impressed the committee no doubt.
