Horns now are back to controlling their own destiny

With OSU losing and with win over K-State, Texas now controls its own destiny for Big XII title game again. Three tough games left but no one has to do any scoreboard watching. Starts next Saturday night against TCU. If Texas can actually put two halves together, this can be a scary good team.

i’m super happy to get this win but i have to be the wet blanket here. our defense can rarely get off the field on 3rd or 4th down (regardless of how many yards are needed). And Sark’s play calling boggles the mind in clutch situations.

i see us losing 2 of these last 3.

2 weeks ago, I wrote this game off as a guaranteed loss, so, not so fast, my friend. We won't know until the games are played.

Certainly can be done. Man that trip to Kansas is looking tougher all of a sudden! (Did I really just type that???) TCU is going to be a track meet. Baylor is playing a lot better lately and is going to be tough. If we win out in that stretch, that’s going to be a serious accomplishment.

What we know is we have to win the first half by more than we lose the second half. We are incompetently coached in the second half of practically every game.

I’m curious about people who only show up to complain or spread negativity. Otherwise they practically never post at all. It’s very weird to me.

Don’t forget player mistakes. I think they play a role too.

Eh, I wouldn’t put it all there. That Worthy fumble is what made it a ball game. Texas had just gotten a stop on opening KSU possession and makes a huge 3rd down conversion and fumbles it. That changed the game. I can understand leaning on Bijan. There are just a few plays I would have called differently on 3rd down or trusted Quinn a little more with some Jwhitt or Sanders shallow to intermediate throws. He clearly sees it’s an issue. I think this win goes a long way for everyone. Also I think QE is throwing the deep ball better by end of year. Takes time.

Agree on the Worthy fumble (fair enough the hit was on the ball, but if he had both on the ball the fumble would have not occurred in all probability).

QE's 2nd half inability to make 10-yard or more completions in the second half is getting old and disturbing. It also is one of the reasons for Robinson's struggles in the second half.

Really glad you aren't the coach.

obviously, we’d be a lot worse off if i were… but our offense would do better on 3rd down or goal line situations. especially in the 2nd half. geez. just about any of us on this board could do better in those situations.

then there’s our 3rd down defense. that’s a whole nother topic.

again… i know i post alotta negative stuff.. but it’s mainly about these 2 things. i’m super happy to get this tough road win, but we’re so close to being a top ten team and it’s extremely frustrating because these 2 issues fall on the coaches and they should be easily improved. especially the 2nd half play calling. this isn’t somethin i thought we’d have to worry about with sark.

You see the irony in this post, right?

Seriously, though, it is why I normally am 2 hours behind watching a game. Last night I was practically live because my satellite is down. Watching through my DirecTV app last night.

I made a few negative comments, but I also went back and called myself out on a couple of them when Texas proved me wrong.

At this point, it is just the nature of every message board and Facebook group I am on. You would never buy a Lincoln Navigator if you only read message board/FB comments.

My feeling before the kstate game was that it was a pivotal game. I felt like if we lost that game we could potentially lose the rest of Our games but if we won we could win the rest of our games. Now with the win and game day coming in, this will add to our home field advantage. I think we will beat tcu. They are not a dominating team. They have won several close games and had played 4 home conf games. We have Patterson to help us prepare for them. If we do beat them our momentum and confidence should propel us through the rest of the season and we should get in the big 12 championship game. We obviously have to play a very good game but I think TEXAS BEATS TCU.
