Small class this year but 5 recruits in rivals top 100 nationally is pretty impressive.

Escellent!

I looked at some of the other schools - USC is killing it with 11 from top 100 and especially at DB with 4 and they are at same level of commits at this point. Not sure what their final count will be for 2013.

Ohio St has 7, ND - 5, LSU - 6, Florida - 7, Alabama - 8 all of these teams have at least 7 more commits that Texas at this point.

Totaled up, these 7 schools (UT, USC, OSU, ND, LSU, UF and Bama have 49 of Top 100 commited or signed (Spring enrollees).

Looked at the Houston Chronicle top 100 for the Houston area today . Horns had just one recruit on the entire list, surprisingly.
Are we not hitting Houston as hard anymore? Who recruits the Houston area for Texas?

I don't have actual numbers but my gut says Texas has concentrated more lately on the DFW metroplex and the I35 corridor.

Don't know who has the Houston or SE Texas areas but I hate to see those areas not receive as much attention as in days past. It might be that other schools have moved in and placed much more emphasis on that area. TAMU has always been strong in East Texas and the upper coast including Houston. Add to that the apparent increase in SEC interest and it became harder for UT to compete.

Or maybe the talent in the area is in a low cycle.

All that being said, Texas has verbals from Collins (ATH from Livingston), Davis (LB from Cypress) and Warrick (WR from Houston Cypress Falls) so they are not abandoning the area.

I took a look at the Houston Top 100 List:

Houston Top 100

Texas A&M is the largest commit target as expected. Rice has 5. OU has 5. UH only has 3.

I expected to see more SEC action but it is low. There are still a lot of uncommitted players on the list. It will be interesting to see how it ends up for these players.
