Horns dominate final Rivals 150

When you go to the team rankings, the Horns come in at No. 3 for 2009.

What's scary, though early in recruiting for next year, the Horns are currently listed at No. 2 for 2010.

It's Barnes' time the next couple of years to make it happen. All the way, with a little luck.

We aren't number three anymore, those rankings are extremely old news. Memphis's class has been decimated--Dennis, Cousins, and Henry are all gone.

With Bradley playing above the level people thought he was at even when he was in the top ten, and UNC's class being exposed as extremely overrated with the absolutely pathetic showings of the Wear twins and Dexter Strickland (none of whom belonged in that game), UT should have the chance to grab the number one overall recruiting class.

Those rankings are not just about quality, but quantity, too. It'll be hard to imagine a 3-man class getting the #1 spot. UNC's class, while containing a number of overrated players (Wear twins and Strickland would fall in that category), is still a very strong 5-man class with John Henson (bit of project, imo, but tons of potential), Leslie McDonald, Strickland, and the Wear twins. Villanova also has a larger, quality class coming in. Wayns and Cheek were McD's AAs. Neither is as good as Bradley and Hamilton, but they also have Yarou, who I think will be very good, and Armwood.

True, my friend, but I would rank both 'Nova and UT's classes ahead of UNC's. And I would take both of them before UNC's class any day.

When you consider the possibility that J'covan Brown will be coming in as well, it makes the class that much more impressive. I remain skeptical, be we will see.

I would still rather have UT's class, and Nova's for that matter. The UNC guys that stayed were very highly thought of when they came out of HS. They just made the decision to stay. Then there is Damion James. He was in the top 20 coming out of HS and was talked about as a 1-2 year guy. You just never know. Give me the better players and if they continue to improve and have a chance to leave after a year or two, then fine. Their success will bring other big time players to UT.

I mean, I feel what you are saying, but this class simply doesn't compare to the other classes they've had that have been the catalysts for two of the better basketball teams of all time. May, McCants, and Felton were all top ten in their class, while Ellington, Wright, and Lawson were all the number one players at their positions in their class (and just think they almost had KD also--best 1-4 recruiting wise in one year, including by far the best player in the nation, and easily the best basketball team of all time).

With these guys I just don't see the star power there, even really with Henson. And they're talking about UNC as like 2 or 3 in the country? Larry Drew is a mediocre at best PG who Tar Heel fans will be miserable watching after 3 years of Ray Felton and 3 years of Ty Lawson. Their frontcourt will be fabulous, but the backcourt is absolutely in shambles even with Ginyard coming back...

I think once people get wise to UT's class and look at what everybody else loses, we will be top 3 in the nation.

Any of you all read the recent Sports Illustrated article with a Preseason Top 10 team list for next year? It was ridiculous.

I'm hearing different reports on Daniel Orton. Rivals still lists him as a Kentucky recruit, but I've read elsewhere that he's asking out of his LOI and looking at other programs. Anyone know for sure?

The fact that we are mentioned in the same light as UNC is good enough for me. Now we have to translate that talent into some great March performances.

Agreed, SoW. Recently Rick has been criticized for a lack of X's and O's, though obviously he is a fantastic recruiter--much like Mack Brown. Time for him to get away from the bad offensive strats of the last few years and let his players run loose like they did a few years ago when KD was here and DJ was running the point. We're back to that talent level and likely past it if the chips fall our way.

Rick will earn his keep and take us to the promised land within the next 3 years IMO!

Very true, but that USC team would have beaten this Duke team by at least 20--maybe more. Personally I don't see how Duke could have scored against those freaks.

That's not really my point, though. You can't base the entire season off of one game, if you did then look at how amazing our offense did any time we played Kansas that year you'd get a totally different perspective. Motion-based, wide-open offense for most of the game--very entertaining!
