Horns at #5 Florida

Texas biggest problem is rebounding. They can play good initial defense (interior defense is a problem, but it is what it is) but they teams like Florida, Tenn. aggy, Auburn and others kill them on the boards getting second and third chances.

I give Terry credit for finally figuring out that he needs to get Tre Johnson involved in the offense early and often. Keep feeding him the ball.

Horns come out in the 2nd half and get slam dunked on, and follow that up with a no movement Clanking off the rim.
Really ugly so far.

61-52 Florida with 8:40 to go.

We continue to get out worked on the boards.
^^^This. Out worked on the boards, and everywhere else. Very disappointed. Horns don’t appear prepared to compete so far. Maybe they will wake up and get more competitive in the last five minutes.

I keep watching, thinking something will change. Not going to happen, just insanity on my part. Think I’ll go over and watch the KC swifties. Does Texas even have any assists?

Its not just the boards, there is zero offense. Its just 1v1 streetball and the other guys watching. I know some keep singing rt's praise but he is robbing Texas by taking a salary. This team isnt horrible but it has zero direction.

Texas has some talent especially on the offensive end. What they don’t have is any coaching direction. Texas played with some ball movement the first 10 minutes. After that just standing around and watching someone go 1-1 and eventually force a shot.

Texas looks like they should be better than they are. When you see that in any sport, coaching and personnel use are usually the problem.

What a complete **** show - down 7 at the half, lose by 24. No posts about the officiating? Florida was cheating. They had coaches. Pretty obvious they have practiced and had a game plan. Is that allowed in the NCAA?

I really wish, one of the Gators dribbling out the clock while our defense walked miserably off the court before time expired, would have slam dunked the ball, walked over and handed it to Terry.

The last time I told our AD what to do about basketball was when Deloss had been turned down by almost every coach in America and half in Europe, and I told him I was tired of being the laughingstock, hire somebody, anybody that wouldn't publicly say "NO".

We would up with Kaiser Bob.

Kaiser Bob.... There's a name I haven't heard in a while. I was in graduate school at Texas when Wacker went down. God that was heartbreaking. I didn't know him but my dad knew Jim Wacker and I was at Texas Lutheran during his last year there.

Was in school when Weltlich was coaching. I remember when Penders came in he was a breath of fresh air. Was curious about Bob, and just looked this up: "As of January 2025, Bob Weltlich, the former head basketball coach at the University of Texas at Austin during the 1980s, remains engaged with the basketball community. In November 2024, he participated in a press conference alongside current Ole Miss head coach Chris Beard, reflecting on the program’s history and his tenure at the university. "

Harold is dead, Abe is dead, Rick is busy kickin *** and takin names while trying to win the tournament, who gives a **** about anything Shaka has to say? That leaves Tom and Kaiser.

Did you know or have classes with their QB Washington? He wound up working in the admissions office at Texas. He and I were "guest coaches" against TCU when Wacker was there. Washington didn't much like our football program.

I only met him a couple of times. We didn't run in the same circles.... lol. I was a non-frat boy intellectual, semi-hippie type. :) I was a History and English major. From all accounts though, Mike was a decent guy and an excellent option type QB. I did some of the PA at home games during his senior year. Lutheran was small enough to allow students to do things like that.

I know.... I was a semi-athletic, good looking nerd.
